Fellow ASFNers,
Every year at my work we get together and play a PS2 Madden Tournament using our favorite teams. This years tournament is this upcoming Sunday (Aug. 27th). Last year I called on ASFNers to assist me in finding plays on offense and defense that work the best with the Cardinals. You came through for me and I finished 3rd- my best finish in the 5 year history of the event.
This year I want to do better. Working full time and having a family I have limited time to practice on the game so your input is greatly appreciated! Some of the guys in our department are young and single and will live on the game from now until Sunday trying to master it- ha ha.
Any plays (along with player substutions, etc.) you find that seem to dominate please post them here. A win for me in this tournament will be a win for the Cardinals and ASFN!

Go Cards/ America!

In Madden. I always thought that the curl passes, and the corner routes work the best.

Hope that helps.

Using the cardinals the quick slants out of Iform always works nicely. You just have to watch the LB's to make sure they dont jump the route. If they do just dump it off to the Rb who wont be covered since the LB's are in a zone. Not sure if it will work for 07.

Send your TE on an up and out route. With precision passing you should be able to hit him for at least 15 yards. If he is heavily covered find a play where your FB releases and runs to the sideline.

I usually run this out of the I formation, but you can also find it in Single Back.

Run up the middle using a 4WR formation and use a 4-3 blitz on D. You will stop the run and then it is up to you to stop the pass.

Good Luck!

Also, if you are in a 3WR set and they cheat that free safety in to blitz, hotroute Fitz. Works all day in '06. You always want to find the single coverage and blow it up.

I forgot to say, put your WR’s on the same side in the I formation. Whenever I run the I-formation I put my WR’s on the same side of the field.

Then you can see if they are playing man or zone. If they are playing man, as long as you have a good TE, you should be able to run the up and cut play.

I formation with boldin and fitz on the left, PA bootleg right, all receivers and right side tight end will run right slats and usually the TE is open, if a WR gets open it could be a TD

What?
Bring lots of beer and shot's. Pass them out like candy, you drink water.

I picked up the game yesterday and got to play one game last night v. the Rams. Eric Edwards was open all day no matter what the play was. I hit him for 8 passes for 100+ yards and a TD.

I also blew past the D for a 77 yard TD run with Edge- untouched!!!

All that being said I lost the game b/c I had a hard time playing D. I've been playing NFL2K for so long I have to retrain myself on the buttons for Madden.

I wish NFL2K series by sega comes back...The movement of the players seems to be more realistic than Madden. Well...I haven't seen Madden 07 with Xbox 360 so maybe I change my mind...

Guys,
Some great advice- keep it coming!
A few things i noticed as far as substitutions go (let me know what you think of these after you play):
- I put Blackstock in for LOLB Huff (brings a lot more speed to the position)
- I put Lutui in for C Stepanovich (his strength is 94 and he seems to dominate)
- I put Pope in at #1 TE (Size/Speed makes him a great target)

I have stayed with Warner so far but Leinart is tempting.

My question is which LB should I have on the other side? Dansby is a stud at MLB and Blackstock is fine at LOLB.

Alright I started playing this last night and I was running a Quarter Defense using the Fire Blitz and I ended the game with 14 sacks! Wilson, Rolle, Macklin, Dansby, Pace would all take turns blitzing and they could not be stopped.

Has anyone had any success running the ball? I can not get our crap line to block anyone! I was averaging 2 ypc I am going to try putting LDavis, MBrown, RWells, DLutui, ORoss.

If that doesn't work I am going to try Lutui at RT and EBrown at RT.

Has anyone had success?
