BATTLE CREEK - They represent the best boys basketball players in the area.

The annual All-Area team is made up of players from the non-city schools in the 23-district coverage area of the Enquirer.

Rick Austin​

Union City

An all-conference selection, Rick Austin helped Union City to a runner-up finish in the Big Eight as the Chargers were 15-9 overall. Austin, a senior, was a do-everything player from his point guard spot with 9.3 points per game, 5.8 assists with 5.8 rebounds and 2.2 steals.

Kam Brackett​

Bronson

One of the top scorers in the area, Kam Brackett led Bronson to a 11-11 record. The shooting guard had a team-high 20.5 points per game with 4.4 rebounds, 3.9 steals and 2.2 assists, while shooting 40% from the floor for the Vikings.

Austin Burns​

Marshall

A three-year varsity player, Austin Burns had a standout senior year, leading Marshall to a share of the Interstate 8 Conference title, a district title and the school's first regional crown since 1998. Burns, a 6-feet, 5-inch forward, averaged 11 points per game and 6.1 rebounds and earned all-league honors as well, as the Redhawks went 20-7 overall.

Brock Butler​

Homer

The heart and soul of the Homer team, showing a good ability to get to the basket from his guard position, Brock Butler helped the Trojans show improvement throughout the season as they finished 5-18. Butler averaged 10.1 points per game with 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

Aidan Decker​

Union City

An all-conference selection, Aidan Decker helped Union City to a runner-up finish in the Big Eight as the Chargers were 15-9 overall. Decker was a force in the paint as a senior with 11.4 points per game, team-high 8.7 rebounds with 1.6 steals.

Ayden Dirschell​

Coldwater

With a big senior season, Ayden Dirschell helped Coldwater finish a game back of the leaders in the final I-8 standings, going 11-12 overall. Dirschell ended his high school career ranked in the top 10 at Coldwater all-time in rebounds per game, steals per game and assists per game. He finished this season with 11.1 points per game, shooting 55% from the floor, with 8.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists.

Giovanni Evans​

Galesburg-Augusta

With a breakout sophomore season, Giovanni Evans made a huge impact as he helped lead Galesburg-Augusta to a Southwestern Athletic Conference championship as the Rams went 18-4 overall. Evans averaged 11.1 points per game with 3.5 rebounds and 2.1 steals, earning all-conference honors.

Chase Graham​

Bellevue

Senior Chase Graham brought good size to the Bellevue roster at 6-feet, 5-inches, finishing as a four-year starter in the program. Graham helped the Broncos go 16-5 overall and win a district title for the third time in his career. He finished with 10.5 points per game and 11 rebounds, earning all-league honors.

Seth Keson​

Bellevue

Senior Seth Keson ran the offense as an experienced guard and returning starter for Bellevue. Keson helped the Broncos go 16-5 overall and win a district title. He finished with 11.5 points per game and a team-high 58 steals and 73 assists, earning all-league honors.

Jeremiah Mann​

Galesburg-Augusta

A returning all-conference and all-area selection, Jeremiah Mann led Galesburg-Augusta to a Southwestern Athletic Conference championship as the Rams went 18-4 overall. Mann led a balanced G-A team with 13.1 points per game with 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals.

Gavin Markucki​

Gull Lake

Gavin Markucki had a breakout junior season as he had a standout season on a Gull Lake team that struggled for wins at 3-18 in the competitive Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference. Marckucki led Gull Lake in scoring with 13.5 points per game with 5.6 rebounds per game, shooting 35% from the 3-point line, while also earning all-conference recognition.

Austin Miller​

Marshall

Miller, a 6-5 forward, averaged 16 points per game and 6.1 rebounds and earned all-league honors as well, as the Redhawks went 20-7 overall.

Dominic Mock​

Colon

With a big senior season, Dominic Mock helped Colon to an 18-7 record and a district title. The 6-3 forward led the team in total rebounds at 6.4 per game to go along with 18.1 points per game as well as 2.8 assists. Mock had 51 3-pointers on the season, shooting 30% from the arc and 53% from the floor overall.

Gavin Taylor​

Coldwater

A junior point guard, Gavin Taylor did a good job of running the Coldwater offense and guarding the opposing team's top player. Taylor helped Coldwater stay in contention in the Interstate 8 Conference race before the Cardinals finished a game back of the leaders in the final standings, going 11-12 overall. He finished with 11.1 points per game and 3.1 assists.

Heath Tigges​

Athens

After Athens combined to win just one game the last two years total, senior captain Heath Tigges helped the Indians to a 5-19 record this year. With a well-rounded game, Tigges led Athens in scoring with 9.8 points per game, 3.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.8 steals.

Chase VanMiddlesworth​

Climax-Scotts

Chase VanMiddlesworth brought key experience to a Climax-Scotts program that was in a rebuilding stage this year after winning a district title a year ago. A returning starter, VanMIddlesworth led the team in scoring with 13.1 points per game with 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists, as the Panthers went 5-16 overall.

Dalton Williams​

Colon

A returning all-league and all-area player, Dalton Williams continued a sparkling high school career with a big junior season as he helped Colon to an 18-7 record and a district title. Williams led Colon in scoring with 18.1 points per game with 6.0 rebounds, shooting 50% from the floor.
