Bouncing back from a rare losing season, putting together a double-digit winning streak, putting up the most victories in the city and winning a division championship.

Lakeview had a year to remember.

For all of those things, and more, Lakeview's Blake Shaw is our choice for the Battle Creek Enquirer 2025 All-City Girls Basketball Team Coach of the Year.

Shaw headlines the 2025 Battle Creek Enquirer All-City Girls Basketball Team, which is made up of members of the six city girls basketball teams and is voted on by the city coaches and the Enquirer sports staff.

Hampered with injuries and illnesses last year, Lakeview slipped to its first losing season since Shaw took over in 2019. This season, Lakeview showed a six-game improvement in the win column with 14 victories, the high-water mark among the Battle Creek city schools. At 14-9 overall, Lakeview won 10 straight games in the middle of the year as the Spartans surged to the top of the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference, finishing in a tie for first place with Battle Creek Central, at 7-1 in the East Division.

Shaw is joined on the all-city team by three Lakeview players in seniors Camille Oxley and Anya Rankin as well as junior Da'nayah Williams.

Battle Creek Central also had a standout season, sharing the SMAC East crown and going 13-6 overall, as the Bearcats add Ky'liera Guest, A'Mya Hodges and Myliyah Mosley to the all-city squad.

Harper Creek went 8-16 overall and puts seniors Ella Chantrenne and Cassidy Pratley on the all-city team.

Pennfield, at 9-14, also has two all-city players in sisters Natalie Hensel and Madelyn Hensel.

St. Philip (10-14) adds Addi Dzwik, with Calhoun Christian (7-14) including Jayna Schwartz.
