I love McCown.

As a Lions fan, I love the signing. I hope he wins the starting gig with Kitna in relief. Isn't it funny how one teams garbage is another's treasure.

Good luck, Lions fans. If your coaching staff remembers the "KISS" rule (Keep it simple, stupid) then McCown will probably make you happy. If you expect him to do anything that requires a lot of decision-making, his experience in Arizona indicates that you will be disappointed in the results.

Martz keep it simple? I dunno about that. :)

If I were a Lions fan I'd be pretty stoked about Kitna. I have liked this guy for awhile....back to his '99 performance with the Chickenhawks.

I've wanted him for like the last 80 offseasons.....never meant to be I guess.

The thing to remember about Martz is that he doesn't(or hasn't) allowed his qb's the option of audibling at the line of scrimmage. Everything is pre-snap, recognition and wr/qb being on the same page. If(which isn't a knock on McCown, quite a few qb's have had trouble adjusting to Martz's playbook) he can learn the system, it may actually play to his strengths in the long run. He won't have to make decisions in the middle of a play as much as identify which receiver to go to before the play starts. It may just be the perfect match for McCown.

Thanks for the link. Lions fans seem mixed...to put it lightly...over the signing. Nobody doin' handsprings over it. I'm glad to see McCown signed 'cause it's gonna give us a chance to see if he was a keeper or not.

I hated that the Cards let Plummer walk. Not so sad that McCown has strolled away.

I guess I'm not so sad because I think Warner could still have his best days ahead of him. That said, McCown is a class act.

Pretty amusing.

I'm amazed at the venom that Lion fans posses over the way the entire franchise has been run the last several years. Guess you can't blame them...

LOVE this line:

"What the "F" is up with people and McCown? This guy lost his job to Kurt Freaking Warner. Warner sucks so bad Jesus asked him to stop dropping his name."

what is really puzzling is that the Lions signed Kittna to a 4 year 11.5 million dollar deal and McCown. If I was a Lions fan I would be more than pissed by these signings. Instead of spending the money on a proven, impact player, they go out and sign 2 back ups. I could see one, but both? I'm sure Kittna doesn't know what the hell just happened, and I don't see this ending very well for McCown. This is Millen at his best, botching free agency and further drilling his team deep into a hole. I guess they can always screw up the draft to cap off the offseason. Maybe they'll draft a QB or trade a WR for Patrick Ramsey.

Ramsey is far from proven and is worse than either of those guys.

I think my favorite post is this one;

"I like it......He can make every throw and stands tall in the pocket........"

Warners QB rating is higher than any starting QB has had for the Lions for the last decade. I think the Lions would of loved to have had Warner 'sucking' recently.

Martz has his Qb and we'll be seeing an offense similar to one of his prior Rams machines.

Of course this QB will be more like ony Banks...and this offensive machine will resemble the Rams circa 1997.
