I was at the game yesterday with a big group of family, so I didn't watch every play, and we left in the middle of the 4th quarter. There's very little to say; in the future, I think that Los Angeles will be a very easy place to win. This is literally as good as it gets for an NFL team, and the Coliseum was 20% empty and fans were leaving early.

David Johnson, RB
- Get that money, mang. A foundational player you want to build your offense around. I'm not ready to say "Andre Ellington" yet, but what a disaster if it turns out that way.

Sam Bradford, QB - Keep cashin' them checks, Sam. There is great golf in Arizona. I'm sure you're enjoying your off days.

Haasson Reddick, LB - Four Defensive snaps. If you can get paid not to play, that's a pretty good deal.

Steve Wilks, HC - What do you think Wilks does all week? When he's in a meeting with his defensive staff, do you think he's like, "Well, we're doing the best we can and these players just aren't doing it." When McCoy brings him an offensive game plan, do you think he feels like Sam Bradford is going to be able to execute this?

Mike McCoy, OC - Maybe he should be a hero. Do you think he's still getting paid by the Broncos? Don't you think that if you just pulled out the Madden Playbook, he'd be mystified that routes can be run deeper than 15 yards?

Steve Keim, GM - Look upon thy works, ye mighty, and despair. Who are the foundational talents on this team that are going to be here in three years? Rosen (hopefully), David Johnson (hopefully), maybe Christian Kirk (please stop saying he's good until he does something meaningful)? Budda Baker might be the fifth-best starter on a playoff defense. How are we doing a tear-down season without anything to replace?

No mention of PP as a "foundational player?" Maybe Mason Cole?? Oh...and yea, Christian Kirk is good! :p

Patrick Peterson's guarantees run out after this offseason. There's a non-zero chance he's not a Cardinal in two years.

There's little evidence to show that Christian Kirk can be more than the fourth-best WR and a good returner on a good football team. He had 4 receptions yesterday and 1 resulted in a first down.

Wilks and his team are not even smart enough to buy themselves some time in the off season by saying phrases like "there will be growing pains....", "it will take some time to get everything working smooth.." etc. To anyone that had two ears they would tell how peachy everything is; Anyone with two eyes could see it was anything but.

By raising expectations and spectacularly under performing it, they boxed themselves into a corner and two games in fans are almost ready to walk away from them.

Their lack of awareness aside of what it takes to build a team aside, their inability to help themselves has them grasping for straws. On contrast, BA and Palmer both said following week 1 preseason game in 2013, "don't be too excited there is too much work for his to do get this right....". Those Cardinals ability to stay competitive may have helped them but those words definitely didn't hurt their cause.

In NFL, if you cannot take advantage of; you will be taken advantage of. We are seeing that play out.

Here's the thing, if the entire system is not working its on the coaches and not the players. Nobody seems prepared out there and the Bradford looks scared. It's the coaches job to put the players in positions to succeed. They are failing miserably at that.

I am confused on the Andre Ellington reference?
Everyone thought he was a good RB until he wasn’t. In fact.. a few people here still thought he was a good RB when we cut ties. He wasnt a good RB, merely a flash of untapped potential and lots of “what could have been...”’s

An appropriate write up. I won't be shocked when Peterson leaves and Chandler Jones demands a trade. Rosen is going to pull a Rosen and call out the staff for their incompetence which will burn that bridge.

We are a joke of a franchise for the next three years at the least. Two at best if Wilks is fired after this season.

Or are the coaches putting them in good spots and the players are making poor decisions or playing undisciplined?

he was comparing DJ31 to Andre Ellington, which to my mind is totally insane... not even worth bothering with ... when the hell did Ellington EVER do anything like DJ in 2016 ? and on ANY team except the Cardinals. DJ31 would be an incredible star... people would be naming their kids "David Johnson blah blah'... it is only here in Arizona that he could be wasted so incredibly badly and then have some poor fool actually compare him to Andre Ellington .... Jesus wept.....

I agree with that, except I think we are facing a minimum of 5 years in the toilet ... glub .... glub

That does remind me though, where was TJ Logan in the offense? The dude showed signs of being electric last year. At least try him out as a change of pace, catch the defense off guard, etc.

Too early on David Johnson I don't see signs of him running out of bounds constantly like Ellington did for example. I just think the offense is so inept it's possible to key on him and slow him down.

I want to see what Rosen can do, if nothing else Josh' history at UCLA says he'll at least try to push the ball downfield. I don't know if we have any Wr's who can get downfield, but at least he won't be afraid to try, right now Sam is.

Wilks does have all the clichés down. 1. Everybody needs to be accountable. 2. It starts with me. 3. It’s not one thing. 4. Blah blah blah. McCoy needs to be reassigned . Give the play calling duties to leftwich even if he’s never done it. At least we would be unpredictable. Also , why wait to start Rosen? Wouldn’t it be better to get him in with a week of reps and while the O-line is still somewhat intact? He would definitely stretch the field a bit. Back to Wilks for one more thing. Coming out for the second half Wilks told the reporter they had some new wrinkles for the second half.down 19 points we proceeded to run D.J. on 3 consecutive plays and then had to punt. Are you frickin kidding me?

Good piece. But at least let me throw some positives in there.

DJ is the real deal. What did he do wrong? Rams stacked the box and he fought for yards, broke multiple tackles. He is an elite NFL RB, but he can't fly through an elite defense that exactly knows what's coming.

Kirk is a playmaker in space, has always been. His skillset translates well to the modern NFL. I like to compare him to Golden Tate. Actually there was one predictable screen pass who was sniffed out immediately but Kirk made several Rams miss in space.

Cole is looking good so far. Held his own against the best interior DL in the league. If you can do your job as a rookie against those guys, your future is bright. The OL as a unit wasn't really bad like some pundits claim. It was just that the box was stacked against DJ and Bradford was afraid to step up and throw it further than 5 yards.

When Rosen gets thrown in there, which is only a matter of time, and shows at least some confidence and poise, our offense will look so much better that I can't put it into words. Bradford is playing like a mongrel born of running chicken Kolb and deer in the headlights Lindley.

Plenty of goats to go around, but we're also the ass team of the week!!! The Cards may end up setting the record for consecutive weeks with this dubious distinction!

There’s just nothing going on with this team. Their offensive attack in this game consisted doomed runs up the middle from David Johnson and go-nowhere slant routes run by receivers who couldn’t get separation if Wade Phillips was playing corner.

Are you guys nuts saying David Johnson now sucks?

Are you blind - he is making something out of nothing on 3 out of 4 runs he is getting.

He is not a super human, he can't overcome awful blocking, lack of opportunity, and horrific play calling all by himself. There is plenty of things to complain about, but DJ is not one of them.

This may be the best description of the Cardinals I have read.

What we have instead is a rich mosaic of incompetent football. The Cardinals didn’t make any truly spectacular missteps, but instead played a game over which their badness persisted like a low, steady hum. It’s how they ended up with grim particulars such as these:

I think he was referencing when BA said they were going to build the offense around Ellington, then he promptly got injured ... again and again.
