There is a possibility that an offense driven by three 30-plus year olds can have sustained success for 10 more games. That all these guys needed to recapture the spirit of 2008 was each other. It’s not likely, but it’s possible.
What’s more likely is that a 7-9 team encountered an opponent against whom they’d matched up well in the past and who was coming off one of those weird mini-byes. It’s likely that once teams see an offense with Peterson, Humphries, and Boone, they’ll know what to prepare for. There’s a reason that Kerwynn Williams was gaining 100 yards a start until he wasn’t anymore.
Adrian Peterson - The “All Day” trade reaped immediate dividends. Even if Peterson reverts to form from the last couple of years for the remainder of the season, a win is worth the cost of a 6th round pick.
Carson Palmer - Looked as confident as he has all season, even as the pocket collapsed around him. The biggest problem with Palmer is when he lacks confidence he throws dumb INTs, and when he’s over-confident he throws dumb INTs. He should get sacked in the second quarter of every game.
Larry Fitzgerald - He’s so good that even casual fans recognize that there’s something just different about the way he plays football. We should treasure every game we have left with him.
James Bettcher - There will be those who say that it doesn’t matter that Peterson was new to the offense. The way our defense was savaged by Ryan Fitzpatrick is a clear argument against that. Bettcher decided to sit on his heels on a lead, which is another example that he is drawing down the killer instinct this team needs to develop.
Justin Bethel - He’s just so bad. Compounding his being bad is that former 3rd round draft pick Brandon Williams is even worse, meaning the Cards have a real problem at cornerback (again) next season.
Hasson Reddick - There’s no doubt that Reddick has speed, but coming up from a lower level of competition is clearly showing. He struggles to get off blocks from even below-average offensive tackles, and if his first move (speed) doesn’t work, he’s toast.
