I think he'll do just fine, he's hitting the hole hard which is what I like. I don't think he'll be the feature back in the future, but it looks like Shipp will be cut. I hope so anyways. Honestly, I think he'll be a good pick at this point. I would have liked Schmitt though.

That's what you call "slow"? A 90 yard and a 71 yard TD run? I wish Shipp has this kind of speed.

exactly.. and you add.. he ran a 4.51 not a 4.6 on his pro-day, he's got some speed and power to go along with it... though CLEARLY not a popular pick, it looks like he's got some talent....

I dont hate the pick as much as I originally did

Scout.com had him as the #10 back, ahead of Choice and Slaton, with a 4 out of 5 stars.

He looks like a man playing with boys, he reminds you of the Bus.
Are you kidding? The bus never had that much speed in his college days. I'm not saying the kid will or wont be a star, but Bettis never had those kinds of quicks, never!!!

I like the way he hits the hold hard.. that is something we need..

Kid is built very well.. and 4.5 speed isnt bad..

Is he gonna outrun alot of folks? No..

But he looks like a very good all around back..

Haley compared him to Marion Barber..

He is a good one-cut type RB. He could surprise. I wonder who that leaves out Shipp or Arrington?
I'd have to believe Baylark. Hightower seems more like him than the other two - although, if he can run as powerfully as Shipp, maybe the competion for two RB spots will be between Marcell, Steve and Hightower. (Because JJ is the only RB who comes close to having the home run capability Wiz was seeking, my guess is that his job will remain safe for that reason).

He's not running past the USC defense, but Hightower certainly isn't plodding.

Looked good, color me impressed. Wouldn't it be cool if the Cards were the next team to find that unheralded but awsome late round back? A Jamal Anderson or Terrell Davis in the desert.

He looks good. How it the hell does Marcel make the roster this year?

Ok, I'm down with this pick. Great burst to the hole and really great speed burst after as well. Has moves and what seems to be good vision. He's going to be playing against MUCH better defense now, but he's got the tools.

He's impressive on film. I like that he runs in a pro-style system as well. That was what ultimately caused JJ to fail to translate, IMO. He lined up sooooo deep to get a running start in college, and that just doesn't happen at this level.

Hightower hits the hole fast and hard...makes a cut and goes. We could end up being very pleased with this guy.

News Flash Gents,

Marcel is not going to be back next year. RG had a presser MONTHS ago basically coming out and stamping this on his forehead. The guy makes a bunch of money and really doesn't do a lot. This stuff should not come as a shock.

He definitely looks good on film, and I'll finally give in and sign off on this pick, though I won't go near calling it the steal so many others are. I'll resereve the insane excitement many are expressing, but it'll be nice to have a RB nicknamed the bread truck :D

Remember, though, when talking about how fast he looked in the highlights and how he blew people away...remember just who he was playing against. Remember that he won't be able to do that in the NFL. Now, that's not to say he can't be a great back, but he won't be able to abuse NFL players like he abused small school college players.

When we drafted this guy the scene from "Major League" popped in my head where those two fans were looking at the roster and says "Who the F is this guy?" That was my exact thought, but you guys are right he dows look good. I'm not ready to call him the steal of the draft just yet but he could be that elusive third down back we have been looking for...

I know Shipp is probably going to set sail which is too bad. This organization particularly DG crapped all over this guy and all he did is keep his mouth shut and do his job. Marcel is a quality guy and he did have some good seasons for us and if he goes I wish him nothing but success, he is one of my favorite players on this team.
