Double Wow. Didn't see this coming, but Vonnie Holliday is a good back up DE.

Still need a NT, IMO. I don't think Holliday has ever played there.

Sorry to see Timmy go but will get time to play in Wash. With Wells, Williams and LSH not much playing time.

Saw this over on the Cards message board, breakdown from Profootballfocus.com. Holliday is definitely well past his prime, but can still get after the QB in limited playing time situations. Sneaky good pickup, and I think him + Eason is an upgrade over Branch + I-Web

"2010 was another year where Holliday finished in the top ten of our 3-4 defensive end rankings. He ended up ninth (after two years in the top three) and played exceptionally well in nickel situations. Ending the year with only three sacks isn’t going to set any tongues wagging, but his 25 total quarterback disruptions on 295 pass rushes was the fifth best ratio of any 3-4 end.

That was better than ends like Darnell Dockett, Glenn Dorsey and Luis Castillo. Players with bigger reps, and bigger contracts."

Exactly

Two plays I will never forget as long as I live.

Good luck Timmy.

Those were classic "Hold breath, hold breath, super quick prayer.......SCREAM like crazy!!! Thanks to THT for always great effort......(including the James Harrison INT return in the Super Bowl when Woodley clearly clipped THT)....

Shanahan will help THT have a huge season.

I'm with you... add a fullback and it looks like a good RB roster. Maybe a special teamer as a RB, but LSH fills that role, too. I like our RBs.

That was handled in the draft and by re-signing .....can't recall his name.

I'm going to miss THT. One of my favorite Cardinal players. Good luck THT, at least he sounds happy about going home. I'm happy for him.

Good trade. Hightower was a hard runner but easily replaceable. We need DL depth. Out of the three RB's TH was easily the one to go. I liked him but won't really miss him. At least we'll see what Wells can do with more carries even though Williams will get his fair share.

WTF is this? It's like Rod Graves had an old score to settle or something! He probably brought Vonnie in just to cut his ass! LMAO! I'm really shocked that we were able to get something for Hightower. He is a decent RB, but was never going to be a star and basically a dime a dozen. I like him and he tried hard, but... oh well.

I'd have rather had TH and Akeem Ayers or DQuan Bowers or Brooks Reed or ...than Ryan Williams, Vonnie Holliday, and a provisional draft pick.

But that's just me. And of course you guys know how big I am on keeping our veterans unless they are just really awful like Scud.

Happy Trails Timmy. I doubted your abilities at times but never the heart and soul you put into the game and gave to the team and fans. Good luck in Washington!

UFA was lucky to get anything for him, I liked him but He is not a featured starting RB,
He'll be good on the Redskins, He's done the most as a 5th round draft pick from Richmond.

He'll have more opportunity, good for THT. He has SB, playoff experience.

I am a big fan of TH. He did his best and he had some remarkable moments specially against Eagles in NFC champ game. Can't forget.

Best of luck

Had some good runs for us. Good luck Timmy H!

He may be back, But it is hard to get around He is the last place starting Running Back these last 3 years.

I like him but not as a starter, He was the best behind Edge starting in 08 with fresh legs

and the couple of games Beanie started with fresh legs.

But he did catch a lot of balls in 2009! fell off last year, dramatically but I'm sure that was lack of Kurt, and play calling.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan specifically characterized Tim Hightower as a "third-down back" when describing the running back's skill set Monday.

"He can run, he can pass protect," Shanahan said. "He’s a third-down back." Projected starter Ryan Torain is awful in the passing game all-around, which is an area in which Hightower excels. Hightower likely won't be given serious consideration for the starting job barring injuries to Torain and rookie Roy Helu.

THANK YOU TIMMY and good luck except when you are playing us.

I think it's the right move, and I think it'll be a good one for him--but I'm a little emotional about seeing him go, honestly. A few great runs that were part of everything changing for us Cards fans.
