interesting that career three point attempts is only around 260, that's a good month for Raja.

I think he will start when we dont need a true center in there. Even if he gets limited min's. Hill can help start out and end the game well.

Great news!

Now if they could go find a serviceable big man, a 3 point specialist and a back up PG, they'd be set! :p

this puts a big smile on my face. with the way everything's gone in recent years (jj's faceplant, jj's contract, amare's injury, kurt's injury, michael finley, john salmons, sale/trade of the 2006 draft picks, the suspensions, the lottery, sale of 2007 draft pick, all the rumored trades going nowhere) i was just beginning to think that nothing good could come to the suns. i think i'm breathing a sigh of relief more than anything with this news.

it's funny, the dreams of kg totally clouded the landscape for me. when i was thinking that grant hill was possibly gonna sign with us i was ecstatic. seemed enough for a team that i thought was already possibly there. but then the big ticket was rumored and it totally raised my expectations beyond realistic bounds. i'm stoked for next season. would like a pj or even a mihm, but don't expect anything further from this FO.

My two concerns with Hill are his defense and his three point shooting. If he can get his accuracy up from three I'll be ecstatic.

I wouldn't count on it. The three has never been a big part of his game (only 259 career attempts) and he shoots them terribly. It's not an area where he's likely to show a lot of improvement.

Having not watched him play recently, I don't know where his defense is. Comparisons between Hill and Hardaway are inevitable, and it was always my opinion that when Hardaway was with the Suns, he was the worst defensive player in the entire league. But he was a pretty lousy defender all along, so the injuries may not have had that much impact. Hill was a capable defender in his prime, so maybe he's still competent.

Although I like this signing, I suspect that Rose will now get a $3 million offer from some other playoff team, and probably end up looking like a bargain.

I think this means that D'Antoni's default lineup is going to have Stoudemire and Marion as the two bigs, and three of Nash/Barbosa/Bell/Hill filling out the other spots. That's a team that will be completely unable to get stops, and won't be able to corral the rebound even when the other team does miss. It looks like the Suns are still going to need 110 points to win most nights.

An NBA player who doesn't care about the money and who still has a bit of talent left? Wow! Good signing. Having him over James Jones gives us a stronger 8-man rotation, but I can't believe this is all they are doing. Everyone knows we have some holes to fill. We are going to again need some luck if we're going to win it this upcoming season.

I don't think the Suns are done at least for minimum contracts. I would like for the Suns to add at least another mobile big man perhaps like Sow. I would also like the Suns to sign another PG. As much as I like adding big men, I worry about the backup PG position more.

I try to keep tabs on Grant because he's always been one of my favorite players. His defense is going to be up in the air. He will get exposed if/when he's forced to guard a 2. He's able to hide a little bit more when he can stay with a 3.

Uh, we have two of those...

Uh, thats not enough.

The've lost Jones, they need to replace his 3 point shooting. The Suns in D'Antoni's system are at their best when everyone can shoot. If they had an Eddie House type who could come off the bench and just jack up threes while everyone was cold, it would be very beneficial to them

Exactly, Hill isn't going to become a great three point shooter at this point, he really doesn't need too, Hill is a fantastic shooter from the field, and he can still get in the lane too. If he stays healthy I would imagine he starts often, but likely the rotation will work out to where he is in while Nash sits in the third and early 4th, only to come back in with around 5 minutes left in the game.

I hope this doesn't become a Randy Johnson syndrome case, sign an aging player then have him for a 1/4 of the season
If you look at the contracts of RJ and Grant though it puts a much different spin on that perspective.

The difference is that the Suns aren't paying him 16 million a year.

I'm guessing Hill gets about 15-20 minutes a game and puts up about 10ppg with a few assists and rebounds thrown in.

Part of me would really like to see Tucker start and play most of his minutes at the beginning of the first and third quarters. Then Hill/Diaw/Barbosa come in off the bench and can be assured to all play together while Nash is out.

There has to be an available pass first PG available for the Suns that can at least backup Nash. I'm not counting on Banks (hope I'm wrong) and I think using LB as a backup PG detracts from his game at SG. I do see LB improving his PG skills as he matures.

i'm not too worried about the loss of Jones 3pt shooting. he barely managed 1 make per game, and i wouldnt have called him much of a threat

Randy Livingston....oh wait nevermind, he'd not only hurt with his crappy play, but he would also hurt our players physically as well.

RIP Googs career.
