Free Agency: Hill Picks Phoenix
By Basketball News
Jul 5, 2007, 11:07

Orlando Free agent Grant Hill has chosen the Phoenix Suns as his next destination.

In an exclusive interview with Basketball News' Jarrod Rudolph, Hill confided that he has decided to join Phoenix, and will be signing a new contract with the Suns on July 11th.

In a wide ranging interview that will be available in the next few hours, Hill discussed why he chose the Suns, and why he really did not give the Magic much consideration.

Hill is rumored to have agreed to a contract for the NBA minimum, just over $1 million for a player with his NBA experience.

Look for Jarrod's interview with Grant Hill and more as it develops.

I want to see a more credible source than hoopsworld, but I'll take it for now.

An NBA player who doesn't care about the money and who still has a bit of talent left? Wow! Good signing. Having him over James Jones gives us a stronger 8-man rotation, but I can't believe this is all they are doing. Everyone knows we have some holes to fill. We are going to again need some luck if we're going to win it this upcoming season.

Me too. Most of the reason I am buying into it though is because most of the reports and evidence have Hill coming here, so I'm hoping this is true.

Then again I never really feel good about anything until the name appears on the contract.

Why is it that the league lets you negotiate for 10 days before players can actually sign? Just curious.

Speaking of Orlando, I am having a hard time picking between Orlando and Toronto as my "East" team.

He'll get hurt, of course, but maybe he'll be healthy for the playoffs. I see him as more of a postive locker-room presence than a real contributor on the court. But, of course, for the minimum, you can't go wrong.

Someone's bitter!

Opening statements from Orlando Sentinel
Grant Hill has decided to sign with the Phoenix Suns to hopefully hitch a ride to an NBA title, leaving the Orlando Magic after seven injury-racked, mostly unfulfilled seasons.

He started last year for the Magic, and averaged 15ppg. He can play a "Diaw-esque" role on this team. He won't be going against PF/C's but he can become the distributor for the 2nd unit.

My two concerns with Hill are his defense and his three point shooting. If he can get his accuracy up from three I'll be ecstatic.

can you blame them?
I'd be more bitter if he just sat on his money and didn't fight as hard as he did to come back multiple times. Sure it sucked that he got injured when he was supposed to be the cornerstone of the franchise with T-Mac, but he made a huge effort to play as much as possible.
