With Hodel suffering from a separated shoulder, Bush makes the team because he becomes our long snapper, I would think.

With Rue's performance, we have to give up on the idea that Bush will be our back up FB. We have to keep Rue. It is not very likely we can hide him long enough to sneak him onto the Practice Squad without losing him to waivers. Keeping Bush means that Banks or Diamond get cut as Bush can play TE. I would guess that Diamond makes it and Banks walks.

Anderson and Johnson's performance likely means that Scobey, Prentice and McAddeley are history. Could we package them up to a team for a starting CB?

Have we seen enough possible good from McCown and Parsons to tempt us to pass on bringing in a vet QB?

No major injuries to any "A" team players, except of course to KVB and Starks. It appears that Bell will not be ready until Game#3, but we should be able to weather the storm there.

Have read that the Bears coaching staff were in touch with Mac to say how impressed they are with our team speed on defense. Are heads starting to turn.......can we keep under everyone's radar screen for much longer? My guess is that Detroit will not be taking us for granted.

I'm VERY impressed with both team chemistry and the coaching so far. Kudo's to Mac et al. It looks like we will have as many as 4 of our draft class make the starting roster.....this is a welcome change. Kudo's to Graves.

All in all, I can't believe that anyone should be discouraged with what the Cards have shown us.

The regular season is upon us.......as per our heros from 9/11........let's roll.

They can't brin in a long snapper, that would be one more person to cut. Hopefully Bush can do it.

I posted a few days ago that guys like starkey, diamond, banks, bush need to try to be long snappers...it would increase their odds of playing in the NFL and dedicating a spot to hoedel is tough because we may have to cut a player somewhere we could use on special teams.. Not sure who our backup long snapper is..I was under the impression it was starkey - not sure though.

Why not? I seem to recall that he did long snaps at ASU.

It would be nice if someone could stepup and learn to LS. Bush is the listed backup. Unfortunately the position has become so specialized that not many guys can learn to throw a football standing on their head 15 yds in .7 sec with 5 and onehalf spirals, laces up hitting the punter exactly where he wants it to get off that 50 plus yarder with two 250 pounders getting ready to crush you.

This may be a bigger problem than expected. A tenth of a second and half a spiral off throws the timing off for field goals and extra points.......points the Cards are going to need,

Oh, I could DO it, all right. That isn't the problem. It would just hurt like a bastard from all the work.

Rest has been prescribed as the cure. I'm not allowed to use my left hand repeatedly and/or raise it above my head and/or pick up more than 5 lbs with it (make what jokes you may out of that!). I still have full use of the arm, though, and I can still longsnap-to me, it's always been like riding a bike.

The problem would be the blocking and running. You know, I'm waaaaaaaaaay out of shape, so I don't think they'd let me pass the physical! :D

Starkey is not a good LS. In camp I've seen him bounce them back there.

Last year, LeVar Woods practiced LS and looked good but I think he gave it up.

So who do you see as our receivers? I make it:

B. Johnson
Foster
Gilmore
Boldin
Kasper
McAddley

Are you saying that we only keep 5 WR's, that Poole is our 6th WR or that we'll sign another WR?

No, by all means, go for it...I wasn't sure if I should list my doctor's orders, for length purposes, but then I figured the jokes would be worth it!

It is really a tough call and I'll admit I vacillate all over the place as I try and figure the next cuts out. The problem with keeping McAddeley in my mind is that he has done virtually nothing this year at all. Has not measured up at all. Anywhere. Nada. Is it worth keeping a roster spot for him......and at whose expense? JMHO, but I don't think we need six receivers...........and if McAddeley can't bring any special team skills to the table, what's his worth?

We've got a unique dilemma for ourselves.......we actually have players who, as Mac has said, will be let loose but who can definitely play in the league. I'm thinking that I'd use the roster spot for a CB (to be determined later) or for Rue and/or Diamomd. They have been impressive and I would'nt want to give up too early on either of them if I didn't have to. Rue won't clear waivers. Diamond might. I understand that they both can contribute on special teams.

I think Steve Bush was the LS for the Bengals for 3 or 4 years before he went to the Rams and then to the Cards.

I think the deal with McAddley is that he's too good a developmental prospect to release and get to the practice squad, but not tuned well enough to play. Personally, I think that he's a lock to make this team, but, like last year, won't be one of the five or six recievers that we dress on Sundays. My guess is that Foster, Gilmore, Boldin, Kasper, and Johnson dress on Sundays, and McAddley practices during the week and won't play unless there are injuries. We found a place for Gilmore on the inactive list, McAddley takes his spot, and Gilmore moves into A. Jackson's place.

I think that the inactive list is a place where you can "stash" players that you can't release. Rue might find a place for himself here, as well, but I think he'd make it through to the practice squad, frankly.

Bush was on the team, no matter what occurred. If he can long snap, then, he in fact - opens a position, at least temporarily.

I, for one, don't believe for one moment that RUE, who wowed a few with a week or two of work, is going to somehow cause the CARDS to either drop Scobey, Prentice and McAddley.

Prentice will probably be dropped, simply because he got beat out for the no. 4 job by Scobey, who can do more things.

As for McAddley... why would they cut him?

RUE will probably be waived... and probably signed to the PS.

If he gets picked up... so be it...
