The day Q was traded it was reported the Cards were trying to trade for an unnamed LB. Later it was reported by Joeshmo on here that the Cards almost traded for a LB on the Browns but the player was to be unnamed.

Wimbley was just traded to Oakland according to Schefter on Twitter and Mort also Twitted several other teams were interested. DAMN Wimbley would have been nasty on this D.

:bang:

There apparently seems to be a fire sale over at the Browns which begs two questions
1) What the hell is Mangini doing?
2) What would it take to get D'Qwell Jackson here?

Per John Clayton the browns are trying to trade up in the first to get Bradford or Jimmy K

Browns said last year everybody but Joe Thomas and D'Qwell Jackson were on the block. Teams are now taking them up on that offer. That also means no possibility of Jackson.

If it was Wimbley how the hell did this not get done? Obviously there was more to the story but if the Raiders can get Wimbley for a third and the best the Cards can get for a third is a backup QB with two passing attempts in four seasons, I'm going to be rip----.

Mike Holmgren is now the president of the Browns and calling all the shots.

There is a HUGE gap between the Raider's third and ours. Perhaps they would have taken Oakland's third, but required our third and a 5th?

Yeah but there is not that big of a difference between the Cards second rounder and the Raiders third and I would trade that #52 pick for Wimbley in a New York minute especially with the holes the Cards have at OLB

well all we had to do was throw in a case of fresh fish for holmgren and it would have gone through with our 3rd, i am certain.

Agreed. But I still think the AZ management is much more concerned with positions other than OLB. The fans are freaking out, but I don't see the front office.

Other than his rookie season, in which he had 11 sacks, he has never had more than 6.5 in a season. I was shocked his production was that low. I remember people saying he slipped, but I thought he'd be up near double digits most years in his career.

Not really....10 picks between our second and their third. 20 picks from their third to ours.

I agree with this. Wimbley is a good rusher, but I don't think that he is significantly better than what we have on our roster AND a 2nd round pick.

Plus, when is Wembley's contract up? If he is going to hit the market next year then the Cards would lose him anyway as he'll probably want a bunch of money. I don't think he's all that good anyway.

I don't have a problem with us not getting him. He is overrated and will be getting a new contract soon. We can get someone of equal value in the draft who is younger and on a better contract. I would much rather sit with our 2nd and third(s) and see who is there when we pick rather than pulling the trigger on a guy like Wimbley.

Wimbley only has one pass rush move and is completely soft. Why the hell would you want him?

I don't know maybe it has something to do with the giant gaping holes at OLB on the team, and the fact that he would come in and contribute right away, he is one of the better young OLBs in the game and the Cards wouldn't have to worry about drafting and deveolping a pass rushing LB's which is one of the hardest positions to learn in the NFL...

We already have our 5 sacks a season guy in Clark Haggans and Haggans is also physical enough to stop the run. Ever heard of Cody Brown and Will Davis? ;)

I don't know about gaping holes. We have Haggans and two or three potential guys in Brown, Davis, and Baggs. You can't get every guy that becomes available, and you have to trust your scouting department.

If it's between Kamerion Wembley and our second or Joey Porter and money, I'm going to take Joey Porter and money, plus the draft pick. Porter's better than Wembley, anyway.

Thanks for bringing a modicum of rationality to the board during the nuttiest time of the year...

After his good rookie season, offensive coordinators found a way to neutralize him. He doesn't have any good moves, he isn't all that powerful, and his covering is comparable to AT&T's 3G network. He's a perfect example that just because you're relatively small and fast doesn't mean you're a 3-4 OLB.

I'd rather save picks than chase after other teams' garbage.

As it's been said multiple times, Wimbley is nothing special at all. Ever since his rookie year he has had 5, 4, and 6.5 sacks. Whoopty freakin do, he has one move and once coaching staffs figured that out he has been completely neutralized.
