this thread may seem overly negative, but it's just an observation of two things that dawned on me today.

1. at one time we were a "young" up and coming squad. amare, marion, jj, Qrich, and nash. out of all that "young" talent we're left with . . . nash. the oldest of them. wow.

2. in an article today i saw gentry touting the fact that we "still have nash, hill, and dudley" - LOFL - THAT'S now our "big three!" nash, hill, and dudley. at one point it was nash, amare, and marion. then it was nash, amare, and shaq. it could've been nash, amare, and jj. but now it's nash, hill, and dudley. and nash is old. wow.

The bottom line is that the Suns run is over. We have no up and coming stars on this team. Getting rid of our first round draft choice every year has now come home to haunt us. We also have an owner that is clueless on running a basketball organization. You don't get rid of a good GM before the start of one of the most dynamic free agency periods in the history of the NBA.

This is not a playoff team and this season will be the start of mediocracy for the Suns teams. We don't like it but get use to it.

And if the Suns were in LA or NY the roster probably would have been Nash, Stoudemire, JJ, _and_ Marion, and Marion may have been traded for another player during the final year of his max contract. Looking back, I would have liked the branch of history in which we would have had Garnett, Marion, Nash and whatever, esp. if the hung on to JJ til then.

Hey, at least we've had hope many years unlike some team like the Clippers or Bucks. I'm not going to get too worked up about the future since some teams have transformed in a matter of a season or two lately, granted the Suns are not replicating any of the moves those teams had made.

BTW, why is JRich not in the top three? Is he out next since some team will want to pay him more than $1 over market value next year?

Ridiculous. Does this really need to be brought up every 2 weeks? "LIKE OMGZ WE SHOULD BE NASH/JJ/RONDO/AMARE/RUDY/IGGY" We arent. We all know the suns blunders and what the team could have been.

I'm pretty sure you found something to complain about in 2004-2005 as well.

They only one you would really lament losing of that group is JJ. And that was 5 years ago.

No doubt you would be slapping hands and doing cart wheels had our big three this upcoming year been "Qrich, Nash, and Marion" .....I bet....

I don't get why THIS is the time to bitch and moan? Kerr only became a "genius" this past year, Amare and his knees aren't worth 100 million and thats become accepted fact here in PHX and nationally, and we actually have rebounded nicely considering we have brought in Warrick whom should thrive in our system at 1/8 the price.

And before I hear one more Suns fan say "Well ya know, Warrick isn't as good as Amare"....yeah no *****. Heres the rub. Players at Amares level don't become available all that often. So since we decided its not fiscally smart to pay Amare 100 million (and if you think we should have given it to him, I'd love to hear THAT argument) then you might want to wait more then week to replace the guy. Maybe.

Or you could just find something to complain about. Whatever gets you off.

Personally I am waiting to see the development of Lopez and Dragic and what we do with that TPE before lining up on the ledge.

You snooze, you lose. By the time you wake up and smell the manure covered roses it will be too late to grab a good spot up here. I'm not jumping just yet but I've got an idea that plummeting is in my near future.

I honestly don't know how someone can look at our roster and our owner and our invisible GM and be an optimist. I figure if you're a Suns fan and you're not pessimistic you are probably just too unmotivated to put forth a decent effort.

Its always something to talk about but your right. How many times can you beat the same dead horse? At some point there's nothing left and you just need to walk away.

On the subject matter originally posted, i agree that it's unfortunate that all thats left from that once promising "young core" is a 37 yr old Nash who's still seemingly the "core" of the team along with a 38 yr old Hill.
1)I can't fault Marion's absence bcuz IMO that Shaq trade needed to go down.
2)I was long ready for the worst defensive core in basketball to break up so i'm not too upset over losing Amare. I'm willing to be patient for a replacement at PF too.
3) Losing JJ hurts.....still. Nuff said. Say what you want,Bell was and JRich is a good player but not the caliber of Joe Johnson and he's in his prime still.
4)Hopefully the issue of selling away draft picks is a thing of the past,i think we'll know for sure a year from now when we'll likely have a top 10-15 pick.

Yea, at least the organization tried. Eventually it had to happen. I'm hoping the Suns surprise us. At least we'll have cap space pretty soon, in the event Lebron punches Wade in the face and they try to trade him

I perfer brunettes with brown eyes ;)

Seriously though, there's a middle ground that can be reached when discussing these issues. No reason to take it so personal. :)
I've toned down my negativity & bitterness quite a bit.....but i'm still going to call it how i see it.

I think I would have been more comfortable using a demonstrative adjective rather than the dative form of "who". It makes you sound like a whiny chick with pretensions. OTOH, at least you're happy.:)

Hey the Suns had a great run for 6 years with Nash & Company. He is still exciting to watch. Hopefully we will hire a decent GM that Sarver will trust and allow to make the basketball decisions. It really will be rebuilding time starting with the 2011 season. We will have cap space which will help and should get a lottery pick..

I think that now is such an opportune time to rebuild that failing to do so indicates to me that they have no intention of ever doing it. They will try to recycle and patch everything for as long as Sarver remains active in the decision making process.

There's an excellent chance that we're about to go through a lockout season which means they could have gone a whole year without paying the full price of a complete rebuild. I would have thought that a rebuild was still possible if not for the 10 million per spent on long term contracts for Frye and Warrick.

Our situation sucks, but do we really need 20 different threads to say the same thing?

The world is ending, fine. Get over yourselves already. If you don't want to like/watch the Suns, then don't do it. If you want to see if they become a train wreck, then do that. If you're interested in seeing how the team does with their young players, then fine. No big deal there.

There is 4 months before the start of the season. There's plenty of time to be chicken littles--I just don't know why a lot of people have to cry about it 24/7.

Scoff if you will, mock us if you must, but the sky really has fallen. It is possible that having to have my kitchen rebuilt because of a mold problem which was immediately followed by my AC going out which was immediately followed by a plumbing leak beneath the slab in my bathroom has affected my mood and my view of the Suns. OTOH, it's equally possible that our future is so gloomy that reveling in the depression is the only salvation some of us can find.

Alright, I'll put on my happy hat for a second and make a positive post. It's possible that if everything goes well for us this season that we could be a mediocre team. It's a long shot, but at least it's something to dream about.

Warrick is older than Amare so I'm not sure that qualifies as young in NBA terms. He's also just a role player(like Dudley but Dudley offers a lot more).
