I cannot believe this front office of the Suns, how can you trade a superstar like Larry Nance for 2 mediocre players a backup point guard and a future draft pick. "Good Grief" we have no future.:D

If I thought we still had that front office, I'd be a lot less concerned. For years, on various forums, I've been an optimistic voice of reason. I always believed that despite what I thought I saw that the FO and the coaching staff had much better information than I did and I trusted their judgement and their vision. But that's no longer the case. I have no reason to believe that this front office (read: Sarver) wants the same thing I do.

If Jerry Colangelo were in charge right now and had made the exact same moves, I'd be worried but I'd take a wait and see attitude because I knew his goals aligned with my own. Unfortunately, that ship has sailed.

I like the hat but for some reason I had trouble getting it to work for me but I found an alternative that shows off my sunny disposition.

Now Amare is gone, we need a new scapegoat on this board. Who will that be? JRich, again? LB who not even plays more than 20 min? Clark for most of you guys thought he'd be the 2nd coming of Amare, which qualifies him as the proper successor as the new scapegoat? Nash, for being too old to not break down after 20 games into the season playing over 40min a game?

If JC were still in charge, you could bet that he'd have signed Amare to the NYK contract and tried to contend for title, which would yield him hatred from the entire forum which hates Amare. :D

You still don't get it. Most of us don't hate Amare. If we had an owner such as Mark Cuban that we knew would spend without hesitation many of us would have been screaming to re-sign Amare. Knowing how bottom-line oriented that Sarver is forced us to realize it was not in the Suns best interest to bet everything on Amare's health. This franchise just couldn't absorb the risk.

In thee optomist/pessimist deal, I find I can play either side. Let me play optimist.

The short term truth is that baring too many injuries, thie Suns this season should greatly resemble last season's team. Unless Warrick is a total flop, this looks like a playoff team. A simple equation if that Warrick replaces Stoudemire with less offense and possibly better defense. Laval replaces Amundson with a more physical style. Everyone else is the same, unless it is Clark replacing Amundson.

Last season the Suns had an awful first half of the season and still won 54 games compared to the Rockets who finished 9th with 40 wins. Was Amare personally responsible for the 14 games out of the lottery the Suns proved to be?

Admittedly, I don't like the Suns chances of beating the Lakers next season. But I'm not sure Amare would have changed that.

its LAWAL.:bang:
he defintely has a higher ceiling than lou, too bad there f/t % are probably going to be close.lol and he has better back-to-the-basket moves.
i dont think clark has better D than lou. lou is great hustles, has great hops and timing. we might have no choice though if lou leaves.

Everything I've read indicates that Warrick is a weaker defender than Amare. Also, I'd be very surprised if Lawal is anywhere near as effective as Lou has been. Perhaps in a few years Lawal will play a real role with us but I'd hardly expect it from a low ranked rookie. It can happen but odds are not in our favor.

Yeah, but let's not get carried away. Lou was a nice sparkplug, but he wasn't THAT good. Unfortunately, he appears to be this year's Steven Hunter on this board.

Oh, I agree about Lou's value being moderate at best but I still doubt that Lawal will approach that level as a rookie. Lou was a nice sparkplug but his limitations were obvious and he was easily exploited. But there's no denying that his hustle fired up the crowd on several occasions.

Sure, there's no denying that. But we still have another 2 or 3 players to pick up, so we'll see if we have someone like that (if it isn't Lawal) coming.

I totally agree.

Another thought, I would have rather given Frye and Warrick's money to Amare if I thought he would hold up on the health front. Unfortunately the Suns do not have a big wallet behind them. If the Suns made a mistake by signing Amare to NY money, the Suns would be finished if Amare went down. Then Sarver would have to sell the team. Wait, let me rethink that last sentence.

Trust me, my mind has wandered that same path. But with our luck, we'd have signed Amare on Thursday and by the weekend both knees would be in need of major surgeries. Sarver would despair and then sell the team to a coalition headed by his son, George W Sarver Junior. And as is often the case among the wealthy, the son would be an illiterate version of the father.

Isn't Steve Nash your favorite scapegoat? And I would like you to find one post where anybody claimed that Clark was the second coming of Amare Stoudemire or anything close to that. Perhaps that was during the regular season one I rarely made it here, but I don't recall anybody in the last few weeks saying anything remotely close to that. Most people have just been hoping that Clark could come in and contribute.

If JC were still in charge, you could bet that he'd have signed Amare to the NYK contract and tried to contend for title, which would yield him hatred from the entire forum which hates Amare. :D

No, most of us would probably be saying it was a mistake but at the same time we would be a little bit relieved because as long as he also signed Channing Frye, a guy who's contributions last year are seriously underappreciated here, we would have another good shot next season. But of course we would all be praying each morning that we didn't open the paper to see that Amare Stoudemire was going to be out for six months with knee problems. We would also be questioning on a regular basis the logic behind paying $20 million per season to a guy who doesn't rebound as well as he should and is also a bad defender.

Everybody keeps talking about how Jerry Colangelo would do whatever it took to win. I love JC, but people seem to forget that he was quite vocal about paying the luxury tax. That is he said that they would never pay it. I also remember him giving away at least three first-round draft picks in order to clear mistakes/bad contracts off the payroll. Hell, the best move Jerry and Bryan made in like 10 years was getting Steve Nash, and that was blasted by almost everybody on this message board at the time.

Don't get me wrong. I would take Jerry Colangelo over Sarver right now and not think twice about it, but people here griped about most of the Colangeli's decisions also.

I haven't seen anything in the first two games to make me think that Lawal is going to play defense, block shots, and rebound as well as Lou. That's where Lou's value was, and that's what made him one of the key contributors on that bench that won us a bunch of games last season and the playoffs. Believe me I'm not giving up on Lawal already after just a couple games. I just know that when we saw Almunson in summer league he made a huge impression. Lawal has had a few nice post moves against summer league players and not a lot else. Clark was supposed to be the one taking Lou's minutes this season anyways although that shouldn't make us feel any better.

I'm pretty sure you found something to complain about in 2004-2005 as well.

They only one you would really lament losing of that group is JJ. And that was 5 years ago.

No doubt you would be slapping hands and doing cart wheels had our big three this upcoming year been "Qrich, Nash, and Marion" .....I bet....

I don't get why THIS is the time to bitch and moan? Kerr only became a "genius" this past year, Amare and his knees aren't worth 100 million and thats become accepted fact here in PHX and nationally, and we actually have rebounded nicely considering we have brought in Warrick whom should thrive in our system at 1/8 the price.

And before I hear one more Suns fan say "Well ya know, Warrick isn't as good as Amare"....yeah no *****. Heres the rub. Players at Amares level don't become available all that often. So since we decided its not fiscally smart to pay Amare 100 million (and if you think we should have given it to him, I'd love to hear THAT argument) then you might want to wait more then week to replace the guy. Maybe.

Or you could just find something to complain about. Whatever gets you off.

Personally I am waiting to see the development of Lopez and Dragic and what we do with that TPE before lining up on the ledge.

i don't disagree with anything you said other than characterizing me as suicidal and complaining. i am neither suicidal, merely perplexed by some of the moves, nor complaining, just those two items dawned on me. it's not everyday that you see a team that's widely touted as "young and talented" turn into the lone remaining player being the oldest from that group. it's just odd, that's all. stop spewing the hatred, it's not called for in this thread.
