Same number of drops (4) and drop % (7) as Ellington amongst many others.

Yet, just like Early Dropset, his drops are critical.

Housler drops the passes that matter most, and catches the empty yardage passes.

What is Housler's defining play on offense ? Are there any ?

For a guy that is a "pass catching TE" and can't block a lick, he sure hasn't made any memorable plays.

When I think of clutch catches by tight ends I think about Jake Ballard last year against the Titans. Ballard was on the roster for 1/2 a season.

Sad, to say that is the play when I think about clutch catches by our tight ends.

He doesn't react well to the ball in the air if it's not right where he wants it, and the other problem is he's not instinctive. There were a couple of plays last year where due to pass rush or blitz Palmer had to unload it quickly, Housler was clearly the hot receiver, and the ball hit him in the head because he didn't get his head around. You could see how frustrated Palmer was he got the ball out, hit the hot receiver, but it literally hit him because Housler lacks the instincts to read the defense and know I'm the hot guy be alert.

He clearly has talent, but it's not clear to me he's ever going to put it all together. I think he makes the team this year but I think there's a clear message bringing in guys who can block that unless Housler is really productive in the passing game he's not going to play much because he can't block like they can, if he's not really outproducing them as a receiver, he won't play.

Invite you to review tapes from mid season on and you'll find more than few key catches.

I agree. I'd call Housler a blockhead but...he can't block.

The Cardinals just need to take advantage of his unique skill set. Like trying to catch the ball with his face. Here is an example of a revolutionary face mask the Cards are having the Dude try out right now.....

Just off the top of my head he had a game against the Rams where he was carrying 3-4 guys on him down field for another 10 yards or so. I remember my Rams fan buddy asking "who is this guy, he can't be tackled"?
