Too bad the Dude is not a TE lol
Same number of drops (4) and drop % (7) as Ellington amongst many others.

Yet, just like Early Dropset, his drops are critical.
Housler drops the passes that matter most, and catches the empty yardage passes.
What is Housler's defining play on offense ? Are there any ?
For a guy that is a "pass catching TE" and can't block a lick, he sure hasn't made any memorable plays.
When I think of clutch catches by tight ends I think about Jake Ballard last year against the Titans. Ballard was on the roster for 1/2 a season.
Sad, to say that is the play when I think about clutch catches by our tight ends.
He doesn't react well to the ball in the air if it's not right where he wants it, and the other problem is he's not instinctive. There were a couple of plays last year where due to pass rush or blitz Palmer had to unload it quickly, Housler was clearly the hot receiver, and the ball hit him in the head because he didn't get his head around. You could see how frustrated Palmer was he got the ball out, hit the hot receiver, but it literally hit him because Housler lacks the instincts to read the defense and know I'm the hot guy be alert.
He clearly has talent, but it's not clear to me he's ever going to put it all together. I think he makes the team this year but I think there's a clear message bringing in guys who can block that unless Housler is really productive in the passing game he's not going to play much because he can't block like they can, if he's not really outproducing them as a receiver, he won't play.
