Leinhart loves the running game, has nice touch. The ill-advised throw, imo, was experience. He tried to laser it instead of touch pas it to the corner and let the WR make the play. However, after the fumble, the miscues, behind the receiver passes. The WR catches and the money situation, with Kurt, I don't know if it isn't Leinharts time.
I agree cheese, to a point. It's definitely something we won't figure out, unless something leaks.

Agreed cheese I think they should trade Boldin but make damn sure you get alot for him, a starting RB would be nice and a few good draft picks. And I think if you trade Boldin you might as well let Kurt walk as well, I think Leinart can run a good offense especially if we shore up the line and get a legit RB threat. Fitz, Urban, Ducet, Breaston is still a nice core of recievers to throw the ball too.

The decisions that have to be made are very tough...half of us will like tham and the other half won't. The team is facing two pro bowl caliber guys leaving.

That's a nice thought but which team in their right mind would pony up all that Dallas did for Williams to get Q? Dallas was the only team that might have gone after Q with a decent offer and there's no way they'd do it now.

I think we underestimate Jerry Jones here. Of COURSE he would pay that much -- and very probably more -- for Boldin after losing to the Eagles. After all, that would fix the team, right? Don't need to look at such things as the coaching staff or such.

By opting to go with Leinart, we will have a nice chunk of money next season to re-sign key players and fill some gaps through free agency. Having two QBs making starter money is ridiculous.

But I would think we had better use some of that money to sign a back up QB. I don't know about everyone else, but I have serious injury concerns when it come to ML. Hell, I have them for KW too. It has been nice this year knowing that if one went down the other would be ready, and still give us a good chance to win.

I'd rather draft one in the later rounds.

If we can stir up the interest in Q in Phily that will make jerry irrational and "Jonesing" for Q and I can see him letting go of T.O. if he got Q but what does he have to trade after giving up all the picks in the Roy Williams deal?

Matt should have been picked on the potential pick-6; that play was right in front of us and Matt stared down the receiver the whole play. I was never a Warner fan but he has converted me with his toughness, leadership, and he is a class act on and off the field. It's going to be a tough decision this off-season, especially if KW takes up deep into the playoffs. My worry is if we do dump KW I hope Matt doesn't turn out to be injury-prone.

Here's something for those salary capologists out there. If the concern is re-signing these players and how it will affect the cap, aren't most contracts set up so that the first year or two are very cap friendly? If Warner and Dansby re-sign and Q re-structures, won't they all have the friendliest part of their contracts in '09? I've never heard any talk of it but what if Leinart re-structures too?

Hey Red Dawn. How many f'n times has Warner, "the man", looked right at who he was going to? HMM? I said experience will teach leinART to throw to the pileon in that situation. YOU did not address that. The difference between the two is touch, and experience. Matt has to play to get it. the only touch Warner showed was the TD to Fitz. The rest was all receivers. AND, when warner IS looking at them, he STILL throws it behind the DB. LeinART has the touch. We'll be 1 and done if Matt doesn't play.

I was raised in the "The Future Is Now" school of football and I totally wanted Kurt as our QB this year. That said, I feel comfortable knowing Matt is ready, willing and able.

I am pulling for Warner on this one. I realize the end of the season was not great, but we are going to the playoffs and won the division. Stick with him until we miss that playoff goal. If anything we need to get him a running game and a good defense so do not fix what is not broken.

Philly might do it thinking they're a Q away from being a big, big time Super Bowl threat like they were with TO and it's not like they'd be giving up a high first rounder. Jax might do it... although probably not because they're pick is so high this year. The Raiders are always stupid enough to do anything... although maybe not stupid enough to give up this year's first rounder, but I'd take their 2nd this year and a 1st next year. who knows? but it's not like Boldin won't get anything. If you can get a 1st and a 3rd for him from someone, you'd have to take it.

If we let Warner walk it has to be with a plan to get a better defense, offensive line and NOT expect Leinart to throw for 4700 yards and 30 td's with no running game.

There is no garauntee we will make the playoffs next year. That being said, if Warner walks and we trade Boldin in most certainly set this city and it's fans on it's edge. The pressure on the front office would be HUGE and they better make a BIG splash in the off season.

Retain Dansby
Sign Suggs or Haynesworth
The return for Boldin would have to be a named player and a #1 or numerous picks. Teams likely to desire a guy like Boldin? The Bears, Eagles, 49ers, Cowboys, Redskins, Giants, Seahawks, Rams and thats just the NFC. The bears and Redskins would get us a high #1 and #3 and or player.

Couple those picks with our own picks( think how we could bolster both lines) , Dansby, Suggs/ Haynesworth, and extend Wilson. Add a veteran back-up Qb and you would have to think we'd be a better team.

Let Warner walk and do nothing would be stupid.

oh, agreed. I don't think anyone's saying let Warner walk and go as is. The idea of letting Warner walk is to build really solid balance on BOTH sides of the ball. That means actually spending the money we would have spent on him on at least one high impact FA (D-line hopefully) and a couple solid FA (on the O-line hopefully) while retaining Dansby.

although I'm not sure about extending Wilson. He's already 29 and I'm just not sure you want to extend guys that deep into their careers.

The lack of zip on his throws worries me.
it's amazing he didn't end up with 2 picks yesterday.

I disagree....his passes came out of his hand quick. I referred to his one pass that hit the hands of the defender and was almost picked. He threw that one in there hard.

Cheese, we've talked about the salary cap implications before but I wonder what your thoughts are on what I mentioned earlier. If Q, Warner, Dansby, etc. all sign/redo their contracts for '09 won't that likely mean good things for the Cards' salary cap?

As it stands right now, there isn't a salary cap for '10 so is it possible the FO can retain all of these guys as well as make improvements? I'm actually asking. All of these potential new contracts could actually be worked to fit under the '09 cap I think.

I was making an observation on one play by Matt (I made the same observation to Abomb right when the play happened; I also told Abomb Matt has a nice smooth release). The rest of my post was aimed at the question of keeping or letting Kurt walk. I didn't quote you, what makes you think i was commenting about your post?

BTW, are you saying we need to bench Kurt now and let Matt start the playoff game?

Sorry then my bad. Let me address two things. 1-IF, and that's a big if, Warner comes out slow, missing targets, fumbling, etc., then yes, put the kid in.
2-the off-season pickup needs to be a kick nose tackle, and RT to push Levi.
