That's the nonsense right there. Give me a break. The Cards signed Lindley Nov. 11. The Cards would've had nearly 2 months to get anyone familiar with Arians system into the playbook.
My preferred candidate was Byron Leftwich. Give a veteran quarterback 2 months and they'll be able to deliver play somewhat approximating what a professional quarterback would produce--which is a quantum leap above what Lindley spewed out onto the football field.
Kyle Orton was signed by Buffalo on August 29, was named the starter on September 29, and completed nearly 75% of his passes with a TD and INT a week later in a game against the Detroit Lions.
Do you mean the Byron Leftwich who had not been in the NFL for 2 seasons, and had played in 3 games the last 5 seasons, completing 50% of his 60 passes in that time frame? I think Warner was a more likely scenario.
We were on our #3 QB, and our #4 was so bad, that he got benched after one practice. We were doomed. Period. We were as likely to catch lighting in a bottle with Lindley, a guy that had at least been on a football field in the past couple of years, as we were with anyone else. And not very likely, at that.
Oh, and the defense wasn't playing at nearly the level they were in the beginning of the season. Someone on the board said "We ran out of bullets." They were right.
