Cap space means nothing if you can't sign anyone worth the money you have available.

It's not defeatist, I'm just being realistic.

I've been a fan for 30 years and I am really pissed knowing that the team has no chance to win a title for at least the next 7 or 8 years. I'm not getting any younger. I am f'ng mad Ishbia keeps pushing that timeline out further and further being in denial that this team can compete for a title.

We all know the odds are low to win it all because there can only be one champ per season.

Count the picks we had, and how many of them were goods picks? How many did Charlotte and Washing have, and how many of them panned out?

There are a ton of factors but saying we have no chance at a title for the next 7 to 8 years based of a 2031 pick is just taking it too far.

I’ve never understood that last question. I’m not in the same “the sky has fallen and will never rise again” mode some are here, but I’m never going to question why they’re fans… especially fans who take the time to waste as much time as we all do on a message board. We’re ALL the die-hardest fans of die hard Suns fans and those who see no hope are fans because they’ve been fans forever and that’s something they just can’t turn off.

its a weird thing we do

but nah i'll question someone if i want to.

Sometimes it's like catching lightning in the bottle. With a couple of tweaks and if the current roster comes together, who knows.

The Suns are not that far away from being really good. Likewise, they are not that far away from being bad. It's not like this team is devoid of talent.

However, something needs to give this team a bump. I'm waiting to see what the Suns do before the trade deadline. Adding Nick Richards was a move in the right direction.

There's a fine line and we are walking it right now for sure.

Both probably wont be on the team, so there's cap space. We've used our cap space on 3 guys making 50M with mediocure results, but who know what will happen by 2031. If you want to keep with this defeatist attitude why keep being a suns fan?
For me it's because I feel strongly that not only have we gone down the wrong path but that we appear committed to continuing down this path. As for why I remain a Suns fan despite how displeased I am with them? I was thrilled the day they announced we were getting an NBA franchise and I've been there through all the ups and downs ever since. So I don't see any reason to abandon them now.

I frequently complain about the direction of this team hoping that if a lot of us are vocal about the state of affairs, it will influence front office to go a different direction. I know it's mostly a wasted effort but what's a fan to do?

Yeah, we both think the Suns went down the wrong path near the February 2023 trade deadline.

Since we have no choice about the Sun's future, I have sort of buckled down and started looking for a solution given the current trajectory. The Suns do not appear ready to rebuild.

It's not the path I would have chosen, but here we are. I keep looking for that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

The optimistic me, tells me the Suns are not far off the path if they strengthen their front court. IMO, that weakness has dragged down the whole team, both offensively and defensively.

I don't think it requires a huge fix. Even Jonas Valanciunas would help the team, although I hope for younger options looking towards the future.

Wow, can you imagine how good we'd be for that game or two where he and KD were both healthy?

Lol, yeah that is about 99.8%% likely to be the result, but at least there is the slightest chance, while this team, even healthy, isn’t a contender.

The Sixers do in a heartbeat, since this trade makes no sense for them.

He is clearly in decline, he misses more time that just about anyone, and has the largest contract in the league.

They can probably get better offers right now, but in another year, they won’t be able to give him away.

What if it was Beal for Embiid straight across.. no picks involved..
I don't think I'd do it. Between his injury issues as his body continues to break down plus the extra year on his contract (compared to Beal), I wouldn't risk it. But having said that, if we did it and IF he just happened to be healthy for the postseason, we'd have a legit chance to win it all. Maybe even be the favorites.

Call me crazy but I would roll the dice on him.. Maybe.. Just maybe if he was not thee #1 guy on the team he might not have to go at it as hard all the time which could lead to him not being injured as often. Beal has a bunch of these little injuries but Embiid.. when he gets hurt it is a big injury.

Lets throw Zion in the mix and make it a trifecta. Who lands where and does it effect any of the teams records?

Nope.. Passing on that guy.. outside of his injuries he just comes off as a player who isn’t committed and just playing ball for the money.

I don't think not being the number 1 guy would have any bearing on his injuries. And I wouldn't be angry if we made that move although having it pay off for us is a real longshot IMO. Still, it isn't my money so if they can get Philly to bite on an even up Beal trade (also a very longshot), I'd be okay with it. It's not like it would reduce our chances of winning it all.

This Embiid idea isn't rage bait.

I honestly think that the Embiid contract is going to completely screw the Sixers, it's a terrible deal for a dude that might be unable to play in a couple years. He probably has the WORST contract in the NBA right now, just people have not realized it yet.

Beal meanwhile... he has the second worst contract, but we are all in, and have no hope to compete for years and years. Embiid would give us a microcosm of hope, while at the same time bailing the Sixers out of 2 years of Embiids max deal if they swapped him for Beal, they are in even worse shape than we are currently, but they have their own picks and the option of bottoming out.

This would be the true "all in". A team that would actually have a chance to win on the extremely slim chance they're healthy, unlike our current squad. But the trade would probably be more likely if we still had our 2031 pick instead of our expanded options of 3 terrible picks.

A punchers chance if we did move Beal for Embiid. I think this would break all of us on this forum as it would the last straw until a full rebuild.
