Seriously?? Lost in the awesomeness of last weeks game was the fact that we really had no shot today, and I mean that. I was among the kool-aid chuggers that believed that we would all of a sudden come out and play like the vintage Baltimore Ravens! Yeah, it was easy to believe, but there comes a point when reality smacks you in the mouth, and it doesn't feel good. Those Colt and Panthers games lurked like a mugger around the corner, and we picked the worst time to revert back to those games. Antrel said we had a great defense. Love ya AR, but the evidence speaks otherwise my brotha.

Nah, we had a chance.

We always have a chance, it wasn't our day but we had a chance.

If nothing else if we don't let them get so far ahead and we kept pressuring them then we could of outscored them, once we fell behind enough their defense felt comfortable we were done.

Urban's fumble was deadly and I mean that.

The team that lost the turnover battle lost the game, if they had turned it over on their first drive there's a good chance we go on to beat them.

I don't agree we had no chance at all, but it does go to show you why home field is precious, if for no other reason than not having to play on a short week.

I didnt expect the Ravens

I did expect better than what was shown

I did fear exactly what happened. The better passing offenses have had their way with this defense this year.

Today they faced the best and it showed.

We played a rough, draining game against Green Bay and six days later we played a completely rested Saints team. We have a great team but this game was a perfect storm.

You nailed it. Football is a game of momentum and Urban's fumble was a game changer IMO.

I've learned never to count the Cards out. Yeah, I thought we had a chance today. Not surprised we lost though with the injuries, short week, and road game against a great team who had a ton of motivation after being dogged in the press for several weeks. It was a fun season with lots of great wins, sorry it's over.

As much as we all wanted to deny the exhaustion (mental and physical) from last week's game, it was palpable.

Yet, 38 year old Kurt had the most fight in him. Check it. Watch the game again. This brings tears to my eyes.

I love my cardinals, and hope Kurt comes back.

I've been delusional watching these guys for nearly 40 years up until last year. If Warner retires maybe its time for the looney ben.

Wow. The Cardinals of '08 just got beat by the Cardinals of '09.

High powered offense, struggled down the stretch, not getting much respect from the press, fired up home crowd.

Life is full of irony.

Hope the Saints make it to the big game. We of all people know what it's like to be in their shoes.

The only difference between this week and last week was our offense couldn't put up points. The fumble on our 2nd play was huge and we just couldn't get it going.

Great year...I seriously hope Warner is back.

I was thinking the same thing. I hope they do too (the Saints AND their city deserve it).

Interesting stat... Cards were the only team in the NFL this year to play for 15 straight weeks. 13 after the bye and 2 PO games.

The defense played better at the start of the game. Warner was protected a bit better as well.

Hopefully Warner decides to come back, but Leinart should be ready to go if he retires.

The defense has been terrible two weeks straight. Defense win championships. Even the most dynamic offensive teams have to play enough defense to get through it. More often then not you come out on the losing end if your one dimensional. The Cards have been one dimensional heading down the stretch of the regular season and the last two playoff games.

Did we have a chance? I suppose we did but it was long odds when you depend on your offense to put up more then 45 points two games in a row to win.

Thought we had a punchers chance.

The injuries, missed tackles, and inability to force any turnovers doomed us.

Mostly the inability to force turnovers. In the 4 playoff wins combined the last two seasons the Cards forced 15 turnovers. In the two losses they had one.

Maybe I should have phrased it that way D. Long Odds. I'm bitter, and mad, and angry right now, so maybe I'm being a little harsh. But was it too much to ask to be within shouting distance in the 3rd/4th quarter? We suck, but we're still better than whatever the final was. (too drunk right now) The game was effectively over after the flea flicker.

Our Defence has been poor since week 1. Not consistantly poor but generally poor. The Vikings game stands out as the exception
We have been unable to stop any determined offence that is still in the game, right from week 1 (the 9ers 80 yard drive...) but the list goes on Houston...Titans...Rams...Packers
So we had a chance last night but it needed us to get ahead early and for them to make a mistake or two and then it needed KW and crew to keep scoring because NO lead is safe in our defenses hands.
The question for this off season is: is it scheme, player quality or both that is the reason we are so poor on defnece....There is no doubt we have some quality players DD AW DRC but maybe we over rate some others I hesitate to say this but maybe Dansby I look at him and I don't see him up there with the real elite LBs in the league..
Anyway suffice to say we had a chance but it didn't go our way the Saints played a GREAT game and good luck to them for the rest of the playoffs. hopefully wqe will be back next year.

I didnt think last weeks game was awesome at all. Our D looks as bad as it ever had. That told me we had no chance to beat the Saints.

Our defense is not the excellence of execution by any means. The poor tackling was by far the thing that got me all steamed up. The NFL is suppose to be the best of the best and our defense looked like they never had any tackling techniques coached into them.

How hard can it be to learn how to wrap up a tackle?

Whiz stated (after the Bears game) that we hit on 3rd down in our first series and it seemed to jump start us.

Well, if it works like that I think it can work the other way too. If we were going to win yesterday we needed to stay 1 up on the Saints. We needed to keep them chasing us. When Urban fumbled, momentum suddenly shifted. We went from 7 up to suddenly 7 down. Our next drive stalled and we fell behind by 14.

HAd we taken our second drive and scored to go up 7, ( I know that's an assumption) , one, we keep the defense off the feild, we keep the crowd in check, and we keep the Saints a bit on their heels.

I'm not stupid enough to say if Urban holds on to that ball that we go on to win. But , like Whiz says, if one play can fire your team up, then I believe the opposite can be true.

we had a chance, we always do.

We didnt play great and lost a few key guys. The Sainst played very well too.

We learn for next time. Maybe next time Whiz lets us sit our week 17 if he has the chance  who knows.

Great point, English on tour. Whiz may have overlooked the fact that some of the playoff games are on a short week because of Saturday games. The Cardinals were fortunate to be the last game on Sunday last week...but unfortunate to go from last game on Sunday to first game on Saturday, especially after such an emotionally and physically exhausting game. It would have been interesting what kind of game it would have been if it was the last game today. The extra day is often huge.

That said, if the defensive game plan was still to play soft coverage, the Cardinals would have had no chance anyway, unless they scored on almost every possession like the week before.
