I highly doubt that was it.

Usually when someone gets banned that fast, it's because they've been banned before...

Have you been banned before?

Not like you'll answer that truthfully I'll bet.

Nope I was never banned before. I only had about 10 posts and none of them would even be considered offensive. My handle was TradeNash and I created it at the start of the season. There were games where we would build a big lead with the bench mob (diaw,jj,eddie, barbs) and then Nash would come back in and the lead would shrink. There was a stretch of games were the +/- was better when Nash was on the bench. I started advocating a trade with Seattle with us getting Allen or Lewis with Ridnour for Nash. But then he returned back to form and I shut up, but I just didn't bother changing my handle.

In my last post, I jokingly said that we should blame TT,eddie, diaw if we lost gm7 since they were hanging out at a WWE ppv. Some posters thought I was serious and pointed out how they saw other players at other events like the Rattlers playoff game. I then made it clear that I was joking and simply just wanted to point out that I saw my favorite team on a ppv. Then I was banned.

This is a great board, one of the three I frequent (phxsuns.net, espn) but it seems this board has taken the board nazi title from phxsuns.net

I remember this guy, tradenash, and I dont recall anything that would be banworthy. I just thought he disappeared since the idea of "trading nash" looked silly once he led this rag tag team way farther than any critic thought.

I'm pretty sure you were banned because TradeNash is just a username to stir up problems.

Maybe we didn't notice at first, but once you started to post, I noticed your name.

No usernames on the board are going to consist of statments like that.

Some people had usernames like "So and So Sucks!" and that's just not a real username.

Probably should have contacted you to change it, but it appeared it was just trollish in nature.

We, the moderators, have asked that you please find another way to express yourself without using the word "nazi".

I have no idea who banned him, but we were instructed to ban people who had signed up with trollish user names.

Tradenash could easily be construed as that.

The thing I find odd about not just this Suns board or msg board in general but other msg boards for Az teams is the lack of fans from other teams participating. A large portion of fan sites have an "Around the League" type forum that attracts posters from opposing teams and stimulates a great deal of discussion giving contrasting view points. While I don't think this forum is overly harsh to opposing non-troll fans I also do not believe it encourages their contribtions either.

For example when BIM started a thread about the Lakers and was trashed for posting it here. While I think most rational fans would be able to predict that having a Laker thread on a Suns forum would probably turn into trash talk pretty quickly(much like a Cowboys thread on a Cards forum) I don't think it was his intention. He obviously likes the online comunity here and just wanted discussion with the people he likes about the team he likes, unfortunatly there really is no place here for opposing fans(I don't think most opposing fans want to talk smack) except for the couple times a year the teams meet up and they offer their .02.

This is very true. As a fan of another team, I often visit other teams message boards to get opposing views about the Mavericks or Cowboys, it breaks the monotony of homer talk. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the rah rah talk on my home board and the ability to talk trash there with like minded people. But I also enjoy seeing what the rest of the country or teams we are about to compete with, think about the teams I support. Let me say this, when I first visited this site, I thought my first post might be my last and stated such in my post. I based this on some of the threads I had read and how quickly some of the other fans (see hooptydunkalot and some others) were being banned. I understand trolling is a problem on every board and is very difficult for the mods to control, sometimes opposing views can be initially deemed as trolling when in fact they are not. To Chris' credit he responded to my fear of banishment and let me know that as long as I followed the "no trolling" rules I would not be banned. He held true to his word, even when some of my comments were pro Mavs. You have a very good board here, one of the better ones I have visited, most here seem well educated and able to carry on meaning-full dialogues. The Miami board I am currently visiting, doesn't have near the capacity for such interaction, poorly spelled words and difficult to read sentences. What ever the board here decides to do, I hope it continues to allow other teams' fans to be a part of the community.

I think winning a championship will definetly get more posters to the board. I like the idea of the around the league thing. Also having thicker skin with fans from other teams.

The more people on this forum, the more diversed opinions you are going to read. There is 2-side of everything.

Now that two guys are offended and want to leave.... can you imagine when we have more people on this forum?

If I want to leave, I won't even advertise about it. Take a summer vacation guys and come back here. :) That's what I am going to do. Dominican Republic (for 5 days), here I come! This year's playoff run sucked a lot of my energy.... and sleep time.

Actually there's three: your side, my side, and the truth. The third position is very rare. ;)

I think this board is plenty diverse. I'm more interested in civil discussion in a free exchange of ideas.

Free exchange of ideas can only happen in a civil discussion since no one listens unless the discussion is civil. I have heard that civil discussions are rare in sports fan boards like this. I suggest that an increase in civility will make this a better board, but that has to come from the posters, not the moderators. I'm not sure why I expect this from this board, when american culture in general suffers from the absence of it.

All things considered, I participate in this board because of its relative civility and educated posters. I do think everyone needs to grow thicker skin, and also be patient to infer whether a poster is being caustic or if there's some context merely missing in either the post or the interpretation.

My guess is the majority of the tiffs on this board start out as a misunderstanding.

I have not spent significant time on any other sports fan discussion board, so I dont have much to compare to. I certainly would not participate in a board that lacks civility, and probably never will. A few times on this board, I have been driven to respond caustically (as I did once to you, Gaddabout) by a series of non civil interactions(with others) that lead to an expectation of caustic responses from every poster. I'm also sure I have been tag teamed here by some posters with "associations". I now choose not to respond to them, as I dont have the time, and dont want to be drawn into the uncivil arguements, it drags everyone down. All that said, this is a very good discussion board most of the time, with alot of information being exchanged. I guess thats as good as it gets in sports Fan discussion boards.

Yeah there is cronyism going on....some weak people need an army on here. Also there is a lot of "if we cant attack the argument we'll attack the individual" going on. The facts are new posters arnt appreciated so why is there a thread asking for more new posters?? I guess the sharks cant feed on each other so more fresh meat is needed....

I just read a subject where a guy is leaving after years of being here and it lead me to make a post about ASFN.

1. First and foremost ASFN is the freakin bomb for the Cardinals, and no site no where covers them better. They also have so many people that give quality information and threads for the most part. The Cardinal section of ASFN lives and dies with their team. Inspiring to say the least when you consider the Cardinals are considered 1 of 3 worst run frachises in sports history.

2. Second however is the Phoenix Suns forum and while there are some good posters here, theres not near enough quality and quantity. If you go by the last 3 months most would say what do you mean? But think about this the Suns just went through what could be said the greatest acheivement year in their history. They overcame everything but the Mavs and had some spectacular players evolve out of Dantonis system.

This is the Suns home site and there are a lot of fans out there! How can we direct them here? How can we get the word out?

Cardinal site is going to blow up this year I believe more so than ever before if something happens where Leinart comes in and is successful. This will be plummer frenzy times 100 and the Suns will get drifters from there I realize.
Lets just hope the Cards go off and alot more insightful people find ASFN.

Maybe if you mention the Cards another fifty times we'll get some more Suns fans in here....Worth a shot!

You have to look at the fan base in Miami to get your answer to why they have so many poorly spelled words and difficulty to carry a meaningful conversation. Arizona has a lot of hispanics that visit the boards and carry on, but they at least carry more of an English vocabulary. Just as you would find out if you went to a Toronto Raptors site, they have the nuances of French and the deepened Canadian speech like "Aye"

How about more insider info?

One of the things that make the other sports boards I visit successful is insider info. I only recently found this board (3 months ago), and I have not noticed much inside info in that short time period. Does much come down the pike here?

I'm surprised that...

no one who works close to the organization or at the US Airways Center posts here with upcoming tidbits.

It sucks there are no leaks about who we're interested in drafting and who we want to sign next season.

okay, this is about the third time I've seen one of these little comments in these threads about the messageboard itself, and I can't take it any longer.

I assume you are referring to the thread where you continued to argue (ultimately with yourself because no one else was responding much) that the Phoenix Suns rushed back Amare Stoudemire, and it was impossible that he could recover that quickly from the dreaded microfracture surgery.

Look, some of you guys who complain about this "group attack", "elitism", etc. need to figure something out. If you come on here and post something that the majority here doesn't agree with you are going to get some strong responses from said majority. As I remember it nobody turned at all personal until about the fifth or sixth time you repeated your same argument without really responding to the specific evidence to the contrary people were providing you.

Just because a bunch of people don't agree with you and make an argument (that is what happens on message boards) that doesn't mean there's some group effort or coordinated attack here.

If you had made the argument that Shawn Marion should be traded you would have had half those posters telling you you are crazy and the other half right there with you in agreement. Same goes for a dozen other ideas/arguments that frequently come up on this message board.

Instead of complaining because you feel picked on just grow some thicker skin, keep posting, and have some fun. This is a great place even if some of your ideas about the team are not shared by everyone else. I should know. I've been just hammered for some of my more unpopular ideas over the years. I got killed a couple years back for saying I would trade Shawn Marion for Tayshaun Prince (I would do that in a heartbeat right now by the way). :)

I've said several times through this latest messageboard upheaval and several times before that we need to be nicer to the new posters. However I just do not agree with the idea that these new posters are treated poorly because they are new posters. It's usually because they come on here and start by posting ideas that are that a lot of people strongly disagree with, or crazy trade ideas that are either impossible or as likely as me playing for the Phoenix Suns tomorrow.

Either way I still believe they should be handled cordially and welcomed to the messageboard. I'm not saying people shouldn't provide a counterargument or show them why the move they are suggesting is unlikely or simply won't work. Just don't scare them away after one post.

Here are three things that can increase the new users/traffic on this site:

1. People who post a story that posted already are attacked and told to "do a better search", "already posted idiot". I believe that the attacking attitude on this board has caused some people to go away.

2. Think before you type. I see many posts on this site that make no sense and are not realistic thoughts

3. Football season starts will bring many new people back.
