Kukoc wasn’t a superstar. Very good player. Key third/fourth banana on title winners and great sixth man, but not a superstar.

And Kukoc was 6’11... could stroke the three and had handles. He was a matchup nightmare. Fear Donicic won’t be the same.
I wonder what kukoc might have been had he come to the nba earlier and not had Jordan and Pippen ahead of him in the pecking order.

BTW I really hate putting on the mod hat these days but really the your negative thing is super overdone these days. Lets just all be Suns fans
Sanders or you trying to legislate how positive or negative one can be? Cmon that’s not the role of mod. Limiting personal attacks and hate speech sure, but what you just did was tell someone how to feel about the suns. Or at least, what they should post. Please rethink that thought.

Okay I have my legit Doncic comparison. Drazen Petrovic
Not in terms of style, but as a wing right? I thought about Drazen. But “superstar?” Again, how many all star games did he make (and yes I know his life was cut tragically short).

I think the counter you’re going to see cheese make is, “would you draft drazen over ayton?” That’s not even using the Robinson argument. And remember, cheese’s fear isn’t that doncic will suck, it’s that the suns would take him over ayton.

I don't think using Doncic as a PG will create that many matchup problems going forward because it seems that Point Guards keep getting bigger and bigger coming into the league. Over the last 2 years, 6 of the 8 PG's chosen in the lottery are 6'4 or taller. Ben Simmons is 6'10, Lonzo Ball is 6'6, Frank Ntilikina is 6'5, Markelle Fultz, Jamal Murray, and Kris Dunn are all 6'4. The other 2 are DeAaron Fox and Dennis Smith Jr who are both 6'3. Most teams have at least 1 PG who is 6'4 or taller and there are 10 teams right now who start a PG that is 6'4 or taller currently.

While Doncic will have a few inches on most opposing PG's, it won't be what it would have been 10 years ago when 6'4 or 6'5 was considered a big PG. Most teams will be able to switch off easier to a defender that is his size. Using their wings to cover him and moving their PG onto Booker or Warren/Jackson.
I think warren would punish most PGs in the post. I think Booker will eventually as well

Booker has the "Jordan Gene." that ability to slow things down and take it the next level when everybody else is freaking out. To bad he rarely gets to utilize this ability on such a crappy team.
Agree. And he has a killer instinct and drive.

I was asking people to stop attacking others for being "negative"

No I have said I would take him 5th. Definitely not first

I picked Drazen just as a the ability to score and pass.

I don’t understand the game now. Are we just trying to find as many white euros that had success?

I'm looking at height, ball handling ability and shooting that might be similar to Doncic.

It doesn't hurt that Schrempf played Euro basketball before attending University of Washington.

Oh, my bad. You just said the negativity was too much. I didn’t realize you meant towards posters. I thought you were commenting on his suns-related takes which other posters have been attacking as too negative and not an “actual fan.”

I think doncic is supossed to have significantly better ballhandling ability than schrempf. And schrempf was 6’10 and he DID play US collegiate ball so I don’t think he’s a good comp.

Maybe... maybe not. I think there are some similarities. Certainly Schrempf was easier to compare with American basketball players.

Wasn't Petrovic an amazing shooter, though?

Yes he was. At his peak he was Steve Nash level. Doncic won't reach that high but he will be very good. Flip side he will be a better passer.

It's hard to define Doncic because his length, scoring, and passing combined with decent but not elite athleticism.

My attempts at being diplomatic can be poorly worded :)

He is already a good shooter at 18. How do you know how good he will get by his prime?

He’s shooting 32% from 3. That’s doesn’t sound like a good shooter... especially if you’re putting him in the same sphere as Nash who was a dead eye shooter.

He is taking a lot of tough shots right now because he is the main focus of the defense. It's similar to what we have seen with Booker. The scoring burden has been largely placed on his shoulders and he is having to take tougher shots than he would with more shooters around him.

I grew up watching Kukoc, and he was an amazing player. Back then, very few Eoros ventured into the NBA because nobody would give them a chance. They would get frustrated and leave within a year. Petrovic was really the first player to really make it in the NBA until the tragic accident that caused his death. Kukoc and Divac made it so some degree as well, but they were (along with Petrovic) the top three players in that region. Sabonis made it as well, but he was already a shadow of his former self by the time he came here. Marciolionis had a decent career playing 20-ish minutes per game, but he was a hell of a player too. Those guys were all better than their NBA careers indicate, all due to the timing.

OK. Back to Booker. Did anyone notice how seriously he seemed to be taking this three point shooting contest. He was ALL business. I wonder if he wanted to show everyone that he deserved to be there--not in the 3 point contest--in the all-star game.

Thought I'd bump this rather than keep debating in the thread about his extension. I think most everyone agrees he's worth the max ASAP. However his play of late makes him look like a legit star, not one on the rise, and I think that's something that was debated last offseason. He's kept up with Anthony Davis, Westbrook, and Lillard in the last few games where they all had All-Star outings. If Booker isn't an All-Star next year that will be a shame. Hopefully the front office can put the pieces around him so the teams record isn't a reason he's left off.

Weird, i searched for this thread using ‘booker’ in the title and only got the extension one.
