Interesting that out of 94 responses to the poll only 3 became fans within the last 6 years.

Have the Cardinals been so bad that they can't attract new fans? Or are there other reasons?

1979. I remember it all too well. It was Thanksgiving Day 1979 and I was bored stiff sitting at Grandma's house. I scrounged for some money, headed to the convenient store and bought a copy of PRO Magazine. On the cover of the magazine was Ottis Anderson and that big quirky bird on the side of his helmet just mesmerized me.

I've been hooked ever since.

The Cardinals seem to be an aquired taste.

I like the Cards because they are so bad. I can't help but root for them. They should be good on paper but just aren't. They remind me of myself.

One of these days, both they and I will triumph.

When my Broncos got stuck with Plummer. It's an empathy thing. And, at the 12/17/06 game vs my Broncos, I was actually rooting for your team to score so it wouldn't look so bad.

It's posts like this that remind me of why the Broncos are my least favorite team.

Why don't you save your pity, and go do something more worthwhile. Something like reviewing the last game of the season, where the team that we beat twice knocked your team out of the playoffs.

about 1984/85 when my mates dad came back form the states with a Redskins shirt and helmet for him and a cowboys one for his brother. the game was getting big over here then and thought i needed a team so i picked the one closest to my football (soccer) team Sunderland's colours and thats how it began. Little did i know the two clubs would follow the same form for the next 20 odd years of abject faliure!

but its a love supreme and just just makes the good times even better

English, I have crazy respect for you bro. Following the Cardinals from England?? That's a stretch most wouldn't make!

Past your nap time? Go have your mommy change your diaper, lay you down in your crib with your bottle and go night night.

I've been a die hard Cards' fan since they arrived in Arizona. I love rooting for our home town teams and I know our Cards are about ready to show why they have the loyal fans (be it few) that they do!!

GO CARDINALS!!! :newcards:

Believe me, there are alot of new Cards' fans they just aren't on this site. Maybe we need to spread the word about this site?

Since 94-95. I was watching the Cards at 94. Started following them at 95 and bought single game tickets and got hooked.

1943/1944. They are still he Chicago Cardinals to me and Charlie Trippi is still my main man although he may have come along a year or so later.

"Chicago" Its an old Cherokee word for long suffering.

Actually it is a Native American word for stinking onion...really. Now I know someone out there is going to put two and two together pretty soon vis a vis our boys!

As of this post about 23% can be REALLY considered long suffering. I assure you we hope some of you younger guys don't have to go through what we have.

It's really amazing there are that many people posting here who might have seen Charley Johnson, Sonny Randle, John David Crow and Bobby Joe Conrad fuel the offense for the Cards during the 1960's

I wonder how many remember the 1964 Sports Illustated Cover featuring the Cardinals. I still have a copy in my office.

Hard to believe they've been in Arizona that long. Time flies by except for that part of your life when you have diapers to change. Seemed like my kids were 18 months old for 5 years.

Hooked in 1993 when they signed Gary Clark and Chuck Cecil. A stupid, foolish and moronic decision I regret from August-January.

I became a fan when they moved to Arizona. If they ever moved away from Arizona (unlikely due to the new stadium), I'd stop being a fan. I'm more a fan of the Arizona part of the name, not the Cardinals part.
