The Tampa Bay Buccaneers surprised some folks by being spenders in free agency by retaining some key free agents they had while also adding some talent from the pool of players available from others. Bringing back Chris Godwin was not cheap, but it was a deal that needed to be done. They also gave Haason Reddick a larger contract on a one-year prove it deal that may prove fruitful down the stretch of the season.
Despite all their spending, the Bucs actually have a decent amount of salary cap space left heading into the NFL Draft.
They benefit from having restructured the contracts of Antoine Winfield Jr., Tristan Wirfs, and Baker Mayfield. This freed up nearly $50 million for the team and allowed them to spend some of it at the same time. As things stand, Greg Auman of Fox Sports shares that this is what the NFLPA has for its top-ten teams in terms of salary cap space heading into the NFL Draft.
This could mean the Bucs are in a position to make one final splash in the NFL Draft or via trade. Perhaps Jason Licht has a top-secret plan for Bucs fans
