Smith led the NFL in passer rating during the regular season and was superb on Saturday. Smith went 24 of 33 for 264 yards and two touchdowns.
He is one of just six quarterbacks in NFL history to have at least 250 pass attempts in the playoffs and a passer rating over 95. The other five quarterbacks are Hall of Famers Joe Montana and Kurt Warner, Super Bowl champions Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers and 2016 NFL MVP Matt Ryan. Smith's passer rating on Saturday was 116.2.

Smith has always put up good numbers.
But for some reason the guys around him do not elevate... they dont give off the impression they would run through a wall for him... which is why the niners, and now the chiefs, have decided he wont take them all the way. So they drafted his replacement and put him on the trading block.
I was a big advocate of Smith when the Niners were wanting to get rid of him and even suggested here we should go after him.... but not now.
I would rather gamble for a chance at greatness than settle in for a few more years of known mediocrity. Alex Smith is a fine Quarterback but unfortunately I think he is just what he is...a great regular season QB.
Jim Kelly lost four consecutive super bowls surrounded by all pros... but at least he got to four super bowls.
