Hudson went downhill quickly. The trade was almost universally praised on the board at the time. Plenty of stuff to lay at Keim's doorstep, including the Ford and Anderdon trades. That isn't one.
Keim should definitely be held to the same standards as message board squawkers. Extremely high expectations.

Impressive grift.

Do we even know what the ACTUAL injury is? All I’ve seen is he was out for “maintenance” issues. Which sounded like what it apparently was… a load of horse manure.

Dude was never gonna put himself into this season and depending on him to do so was idiotic.
On Cards Underground they tiptoe gingerly around the idea that if you look at him on the sideline he does have a limp. He’s listed with a knee but man he didn’t like playing here.

Im still shocked Keim either didnt move up for Cam Jurgens or tell the Ravens to take it or leave with a 2nd round offer for Hollywood. That way we could have drafted Linderbaum.

Just...damnit.

Uh, yeah, Keim traded for a center who ended up sucking on shotgun snaps, had to be begged out of retirement, and didn't play. This one is definitely on Keim. Board opinion at the time of the trade means literally nothing to the responsibility he bears.

That’s what happens when you’re desperate.
Yup, the underlying issue as we all know is not the trade itself, all teams for the most part get taken to town when they continuously take this route to cover their deficiencies, the actual fault is Keim cannot draft. 'Keim time' is something he should not get patted on the back for when he does get it right, because he is occasionally taking a step forward but two steps back every draft

You can’t argue this. Granted, I haven’t been as critical of Keim as many on this board have been. But, how do you draft a QB #1 overall and not draft an Olineman high in the draft at all in like 7 years? And our OL sucked even BEFORE we drafted Murray. This is inexcusable. And he hasn’t drafted a stud DLineman during that stretch either. And this team is wretched in the trenches. Football has changed quite a bit over the decades I’ve watched it, but one thing hasn’t changed. Teams that are strong in the trenches are playoff teams & teams that suck in the trenches are crap. We obviously are in the latter group.

If you look back the Hudson trade was well regarded by more than just some on the board. It was almost universally praised as stabilizing the line. It’s not like he‘d never snapped in a shotgun formation before. I suspect he was damaged goods when they got him, but he wanted he money. I’m wondering if the Cards required a physical to complete the trade. More and more teams seem to be waving that for veteran players.

Before this draft I was pounding the proverbial plastic table (storied franchises have theirs made out of oak in places like Pittsburgh and Baltimore) the Cards own to draft linemen. One could say our situation at center and the loss of Rashard Lawrence at DT is why this team is falling apart. Lawrence is not a great player but a starting caliber guy, but we were still iffy because even before injury (which is often) you need someone to step in and give him a breather. The main problem before coaching, pass rusher or our favorite QB play, is the fact that the core of our OL/DL is a sieve
