I am enjoying SF's collapse way too much.

I don't because the will finally get a QB in Luck who can actually play just like Bradford, making them closer to winning a Super Bowl than the Cards.

I"m going to keep saying it until he proves me wrong, everyone I hear says Luck has already told Harbaugh he's coming back next year.

The claim is Luck had concerns about Harbaugh taking an NFL job and they talked and Harbaugh essentially said I'm more concerned about you leaving than me leaving. Supposedly Luck told him I fully intend to play my junior year.

I can't remember the name but apparently one of the young backup QB's left Stanford entirely because Luck told him he was coming back next year and the kid decided to transfer, redshirt, and be eligible at his new school when Luck is playing as a junior at Stanford.

I would hate to see Luck end up a 49er so I hope that stuff is true and he stays.

SF has a sad group of fans. Football illiterate, loud, arrogant, and fickle in the extreme.

Whenever one encounters 49er fans online it is a fun game to see how long it will take them to bring up all the Super Bowl rings SF has...from 20 years ago. They remind me of Bears fans, forever crowing about 1985. There is a statute of limitations on gloating about Super Bowls.

Asked this on another Niner thread, how is that a penalty on Crabtree after the pick? The guy went down, but nobody touched him before he got up, got hit and fumbled. Am I missing something where a defender can slide down and he's down even if not touched? To me as soon as he got up, he's ok to hit because nobody touched him, but NBC never mentioned it so I must be missing something?
I agree...

So we can't gloat about our 1947 NFL Championship? :D

You know, it's never been tried. Let's see if we can pull that off.

The funny moment of the night was seeing Carr put the helmet on and walk on to the field to huddle up only to have Smith trot out at the same time...LOL!

I have a standing bet with a 9er fan and we are attending the game together. 50 bucks for me if I lose and he has to get us on the most expensive golf course in the city if I win.

I'll tale sugestions for the best and most espensive courses in the valley. He's a scratch player and I'm a ten handicap hacker, but I know I'll have a terrific time taking it out on him

Been known to break 80 so that would just make the whole deal too sswwwseeeeett

SFs schedule gets much much more friendly the rest of the season. Not saying they have any hope but they've been competitive the last two weeks against good teams.

Their schedule the rest of the way is
VS Oak
@ Car
VS Den
bye
VS St. L.
VS TB
@ Ari
@ GB
VS Sea
@ SD
@ St. L
VS Ari

Given how they have done against NO, Atl, and Phi I could see them having a shot to win any of those except @ SD and @ GB.

I just hope they don't go 2-14 with their 2 wins against us again.

Worst case scenario for the 9ers: 3-13
Best case: 6-10

This is probably not over for them. They could conceivably be 3-5 going into there bye and an outside chance of 5-5 coming in to play us. Not likely but I could see them making a run. We just need to take care of our games and all is good.

I fully expect SF to win 5-6 games which is fine by me, because once again they will miss the playoffs AND screw themselves out of getting a top pick to snag a premier QB in the draft. I'll drink to that!

well

I'll enjoy it more when we don't lose to them, Its a long season enjoy it while we can, but lets not feed a wounded miner any more rope to climb up with.

In fact I hope they destroy the Seahawks and Rams their next time out
go niners! help us out before the fat lady sing sing !

ESPN and NFL Films will still show 0-5 Niners way more than the Cards SB game.
cause they have no class, how do these fools keep their jobs? I've been banne for alot less than their sorry excuse for NFL predictions.

When I was a kid I would take great pleasure in watching the hated teams (the Bears, Cowboys, etc) lose. Then I got older and realized that I only care if the Cardinals win and the other teams don't matter.

But now I'm back to my old ways. After 9 offseason months of hearing about how great the 49ers are, it is difficult to describe how much I enjoy seeing them at 0-5.

I think that the 49ers need to show that they can win against anyone on the road before we can start predicting that they will win one there.

Lowell Cohn in today's Santa Rosa Press Democrat (via Sando):

Singletary is the worst 49ers head coach since anyone can remember. Dennis Erickson, who got run out of town, at least knew offense. He had been successful in college. Mike Nolan, a figure of ridicule, knows defense and is the defensive coordinator for the Dolphins. Singletary knows nothing, can coach nothing, has expertise in nothing. You can't name a worse 49er coach in decades.

He's right. Singletary is in a class by himself as a head coach. This has to be laid at the feet of ownership though. Some hires turn out to be bad although understandable but it's been clear all along that Mike just isn't a head coach. He's the guy you bring in to give a rousing pre-game speech but he's not a head coach.

Still, I'm not counting the 9ers out just yet. Even though winless they've looked pretty good at times and they're schedule does get easier. Hopefully, they'll just quit on their head coach (except for their Seahawks rematch) and make our life a little sweeter.

I don't believe that for a second. Go back a year ago on this board (even at the beginning of this season), and you'll see posters who were bemoaning what a good coach Singletary is/will be and how well the 49ers respond to him. I've been saying for years that Singletary is a less experienced Dave McGinnis and may someday be a good head coach but doesn't have the necessary X's and O's or administrative experience. But that was a minority opinion at the time.

I never understood all the hype about Singletary, the guy is if not the worst coach in the NFL one of the worst and is clearly in over his head.

The media fawns over him, I just don't get it.

I don't hate the Niners like most do around here: they weren't in the old NFC East and I didn't much care who won the old NFC West. Plus I never saw them play at SDS so I didn't have to endure the gloating fans.

But 0-5 is definitely interesting to me, because in the media, their "division title" was downgraded to "still theirs to lose" to "the division is so bad that they're still in it at 0-4" to...this.

Also because I do think they'll win 5-6 games as well, and if a few come against the Rams and Seahawks and not against us--they may in the end be our greatest help.

The funny moment of the night was seeing Carr put the helmet on and walk on to the field to huddle up only to have Smith trot out at the same time...LOL!

Apparently Singletary told him to warm up and go in and then right at teh end of the exchange with Smith, he changed his mind.

He can be baffling, his postgame comments he refused to explain what was said with him and Smith, then said he wanted to see how Smith would react to the situation(presumably putting Carr in) and he was happy with how Alex responded. Then he said he wasn't opposed to starting Carr next game, he'll wait and see.

And Vernon Davis says he was the one who prodded Smith into the argument, he said he wanted Alex to stay in the game and prodded him to fight for it instead of saying nothing.

Total dysfunction right now but they have a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way SD and GB are the only opponents who look to be very good right now left on their schedule. If they fix some of the issues they could easily go 8-3 the rest of the way, I just don't think singletary is the guy to make those fixes.
