I am enjoying SF's collapse way too much.

When I was a kid I would take great pleasure in watching the hated teams (the Bears, Cowboys, etc) lose. Then I got older and realized that I only care if the Cardinals win and the other teams don't matter.

But now I'm back to my old ways. After 9 offseason months of hearing about how great the 49ers are, it is difficult to describe how much I enjoy seeing them at 0-5.

The way they are losing is making it even more enjoyable. Getting just blasted by poor teams on the road. Making killer mistakes to lose close games to good teams at home. Karma can be a real bitch, and I think the Niners have more pain coming.

Asked this on another Niner thread, how is that a penalty on Crabtree after the pick? The guy went down, but nobody touched him before he got up, got hit and fumbled. Am I missing something where a defender can slide down and he's down even if not touched? To me as soon as he got up, he's ok to hit because nobody touched him, but NBC never mentioned it so I must be missing something?

Good question, but did it matter?

I believe once you give yourself up they can't slam into a guy on the ground. I think that rule was put in a few years back for safety.

I'm not sure but it sure would have if SF had recovered the fumble
and they still ruled him down and no fumble.

He wasn't on the ground, he got back up because he thought the play was over and as he was standing up, Crabtree hit him knocking the ball out.

I think NO recovered the fumble but if they hadn't it sure would have been a weird play if they still ruled him down.

I don't know the rule there for sure but it looked to me like he went down untouched and got back up before he got hit.

As soon as he went to the ground, the play was over. You are allowed to give yourself up and I'm sure the whistle blew as soon as he went down.

I'm loving watching them lose, especially their fans. SF fans are the most arrogant in the league, even though they haven't done jack in almost a decade.

No one hates the 49ers more than me, but I have to admit that I do feel a bit sorry for Singletary. His press conference after the game was painful to watch.

Hmm must be a rule I'm not aware of I've always understood that you have to be touched down even if you just fall down, unless you're the QB.

Nobody questioned it on tv so you're probably right.

he gave himself up, they probably blew the whistle (which they should), and then he started to get up and Crabtree hit him. That is U. roughness. I knew it right away and wondered where the flag was, then they finally threw it. Right call all the way.

What I laughed at was "we want Carr, we want Carr", they boo Smith coming back in, and then they drive down the field and score and they're cheering Smith again. THen he makes the last mistake and they boo again. I realize the guy stinks but talk about frontrunning.

I would love to have seen the whole exchange with Singletary, I can't tell if Smith talked him out of benching him, or if Singletary was challenging him like do you want to be my QB or not? He clearly seemed like he was going to Carr and then didn't.

We can at least agree on this Ed.

I hope they go 0-16. That would be just be freaking fantastic. LOL! In the 2011 draft, maybe they pick another loser QB like smith.

I don't know the exact wording, but if a player is nowhere near being tackled and it is obvious that he went down on his own, the officials will blow the whistle.

You see it sometimes at the end of games too when teams want the clock to stop so they can call time out to try a last-second FG etc.

I don't because the will finally get a QB in Luck who can actually play just like Bradford, making them closer to winning a Super Bowl than the Cards.
