The THREE most crucial statements made by Anquan in my view:
1 -- I am going to play hard this season, and will not walk out of camp or let my teammates down.
2 -- The Cardinals have made it clear I won't be traded, so I am a member of this organization.
3 -- I do not want my teammates to be distracted by this.
The #1 paramount thing that matters to this team right now is to have a winning season in '08. A team with the Cardinals' history has a major psychological barrier to break though, but they also have an excellent chance to win this season with above average talent and (at least) very competent coaching.
Boldin is going to play, and catch the ball when we throw it to him. Stop me if I'm wrong Sandy but those are the two most important issues here. If the man's feelings are hurt I guess that's too bad, but we need him to play hard and be positive in the locker room. This year. That's it. Just get the ball over the d*** net for the first time.
If the Cardinals get over the hump with a 10 or 11 win season then we can go back and do the "assets, draft picks, future of this team" stuff and trade Q or resign him or whatever. A playoff season will produce a lot of positive snowball effect for the next few years to come -- the refs will be a little less unfair, the media hype helps intimidate your opponents, and the team has the confidence of a returning playoff contender. Other WR's will have had chances to develop further, the team has an offseason to make the choice and prepare to play with/without Q.
But this season is too precious and too SOON to worry about someone's feelings if those emotions are peripheral to the number one goal, of winning. I give Whis credit for staying the course in this regard. We just need Q on the field catching passes. He and Whisenhurt aren't buddies? That doesn't hurt the team has badly as trading away our offense.
