I don't know why this is such a big story, I hate being in the media.....then quit going on every talk show you can possibly find, LOL!

BTW what's this crap about after he signed the 2nd deal and then made two more pro bowls and then wanting a newer deal? Whaaa?

Thats not what he said. He said that management told him that if he made two pro-bowls they woudl redo his deal. He then said thay stated they didnt expect it to happen so soon.

I got a question. When has using the media for either the team or the player actually every worked for them in negotiations. Didnt work for Briggs, took him a year and half to get something done. Still hasnt worked for Chad Johnson. Yet Steven Jackson kept his mouth shut and lo and behold a deal gets done.

The only time I can every remember someone using the media and it working is TO. But TO lost half of his money after getting fined by the Eagles so although he got a new deal he also lost a lot.

Taking things to the media never helps the player or the team. Not sure why either side ever does it.

There happens to be one similarity with all of these playes that negotiate through the media: Drew Rosenhaus. The reason I think that he has his clients do it is to draw attention to himself. Rosenhaus is a very good agent but he is also an ego-maniac and a media *****. He now has an excuse to show up and talk about the "poor circumstances" regarding his clients.

If he expects a public outcry for his clients with his interviews, he's an idiot because he's not getting it.

Interesting thing on the standard Rosenhaus strategy--

it clearly worked with T.O.

has it worked since?

Is Rosenhaus a one-trick pony?

First Briggs, then Ocho and now Boldin --- all have agitated in one sense or another to try to get a new deal. Thus far -- all have been shut down.

Its like Rosenhaus figured out he had the foolproof formula, and has tried to recreate his T.O. success -- but thus far, all its done is ruin the public reputation of the players he has represented.

He stated that they said give them two pro bowl seasons and we will look at it. Did he not already have 1? So wouldn't they have said give us 1 more pro bowl season if that was their intent? In my world, things of this nature can be easily avoided in something called a contract. If Q wanted that to be an incentive he should have had it written in the deal.

Also he is mixing words when he talks about "At the time, that was a fair market deal" then in the next couple seconds states that he accepted less to help the team, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which is it Q? Were you such a stand up guy to help out the team or was it a fair market deal?

BTW if you were really helping out the team I don't think they would have RIPPED UP YOUR CURRENT DEAL TO GIVE YOU THAT MUCH MORE MONEY!

On Dan Patrick this morning, he came across very rational, very spurned and very forthright. People can cry "hypocrisy!" if they want because of his claims of not wanting to go to the media then becoming highly visible in the media but if what he is saying is true, I'm disappointed with the Cardinals. Right-click and save:

Interesting that you can make this judgement only hearing one side of the issue. I am really disappointed in Boldin. He sounds like a spoiled little kid.

And there we have it. Renegotiate doesnt mean new deal before the start of the 2008 season. It means they will renegotiate, which is hard to do if your agent is telling you we will wait until after the Fitz deal. Lots of things change from 2 years ago to today, Both Boldin and the Cards should know that. Both sides should know better not to take a promise or the idea to renegotiate two years before hand so seriously considering the rapid change in climate in the NFL from year to year.

Case in point. I work in the residential housing market. Changes every year. My Boss told me I might get a raise 2 years from now when the housing market goes up, I am not taking it seriously considering the housing market may or may not be back up in two years. Heck the way it is going two years from now I might not have a job.

Cheer up Joe. History and demand make it highly unlikely that the housing market will stay in he dumps for another 2 years.

The THREE most crucial statements made by Anquan in my view:

1 -- I am going to play hard this season, and will not walk out of camp or let my teammates down.

2 -- The Cardinals have made it clear I won't be traded, so I am a member of this organization.

3 -- I do not want my teammates to be distracted by this.

The #1 paramount thing that matters to this team right now is to have a winning season in '08. A team with the Cardinals' history has a major psychological barrier to break though, but they also have an excellent chance to win this season with above average talent and (at least) very competent coaching.

Boldin is going to play, and catch the ball when we throw it to him. Stop me if I'm wrong Sandy but those are the two most important issues here. If the man's feelings are hurt I guess that's too bad, but we need him to play hard and be positive in the locker room. This year. That's it. Just get the ball over the d*** net for the first time.

If the Cardinals get over the hump with a 10 or 11 win season then we can go back and do the "assets, draft picks, future of this team" stuff and trade Q or resign him or whatever. A playoff season will produce a lot of positive snowball effect for the next few years to come -- the refs will be a little less unfair, the media hype helps intimidate your opponents, and the team has the confidence of a returning playoff contender. Other WR's will have had chances to develop further, the team has an offseason to make the choice and prepare to play with/without Q.

But this season is too precious and too SOON to worry about someone's feelings if those emotions are peripheral to the number one goal, of winning. I give Whis credit for staying the course in this regard. We just need Q on the field catching passes. He and Whisenhurt aren't buddies? That doesn't hurt the team has badly as trading away our offense.

Good post.

You know what you are right Im an idiot. That promise must have been "get us a second pro-bowl and well get you a new contract."

That would make sense.

No, based on the interview Anquan considers his 1400 yard season a pro-bowl season even though he didn't make it to the probowl that year. It's about 4 minutes into the interview and he says his 1400 yard season and 1200 yard season. Yet he fails to mention that he wasn't selected to the probowl for his 1400 yard season.

Sorta like the, "I'm due a $500K bonus for getting a 90 QB rating, even though I didn't get a 90 rating".

Uncomfortable discussing publically? Yet that is all he does. Puh-leeze!

No kidding.

Boldin is trying to hide his greed behind the self-righteous banner of "I was lied to. This is all about being lied to not about the contract" ...

Whatever.

What a disappointment to discover Q is no different than other players in this arena. I hope the Cards make him play all three remaining years then let him walk. Trying to pull coach Whis into the mess is especially low class.

I laughed out loud when Q said that his wanting a new contract had nothing to do with Fitz's new deal. Riiiiiight.

I thought he handled that question quite well. He didn't say it had nothing to do with the contract, he said it had nothing to do with Fitz. He said Fitz earned all of that money, and he feels that he's earned more than he's being paid.

On that mark, I think he has a point.

Q said he settled for less on his contract to help the team sign other players and continue to build a playoff team with the understanding that he would be taken care of later. That money went to Fitz rather than Boldin. I can see why Q feels betrayed.

I think that is stretching it on Q's part

when he signed that deal -- he was paid as a 5 WR in the game. This after a fabulous rookie season, but also a injury interupted, mediocre sophomore effort.

He may feel like he settled, but to expect more money than he got given his situation and where he ended up relative to other WRs is simply not realistic.

I'm just happy that we actually have players who are good enough to be "demanding" new contracts.

I've heard more convincing stories from people being arrested on COPS than in this interview. I'll say it, screw you 81.

I thought Dan Patrick did a good job of playing devils advocate here.

I must admit, I am little confused. Because Q says he only asked to be traded '2 days ago'. But earlier this year we had reports of Rosenslime asking the Cards to trade Q?

Once you pay attention, you will find all of these nagging inconsistencies. All of this is a giant he said/she said soap opera. Boldin's perceptions of things may seem justified or ludicrous to people outside of the situation, but he clearly believes them. However, his belief does not make it fact, just one side of the story.

Fans are forming their opinions based on little more than rumor and raw emotion, just like they were with Fitzgerald. Is it worth even getting worked up over? We are talking about Millionaires fighting over money and none of it will really affect anyone's life on this board.

I wish people would get this passionate about something that really made a difference in this world. In the end Boldin will make some obscene amount of money to catch a ball for us, or he will make some obscene amount of money to catch a ball for someone else.

This is why I am almost numb to the topic. Cant draw any conclusions because of all the "spin." You have to sift through all the bull to get to the facts. Which are:

  • Boldin feels he is grossly underpaid and disrespected by the team
  • Drew Rosenhaus has done this ploy with previous clients in the past
  • The Cards had to re-sign Fitz first, or NO ONE was going to get re-signed
  • Drew Rosenhaus has relationships with all of the major media outlets throught the US and can get Boldin on any station to tell his alleged side of the story
