Alba set to star in I Dream Of Jeannie remake

Jessica Alba looks set to star in a big screen version of popular US 60s sitcom I Dream Of Jeannie.

The 24-year-old Fantastic Four actress is to team up with Saturday Night Live comic actor Jimmy Fallon in a remake of the show which originally starred Barbara Eden as a genie alongside astronaut Anthony Nelson played by Dallas actor Larry Hagman.

It's understood Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson and Kate Hudson were all considered for the role before producers decided on Alba.

Meanwhile, Alba has decided not to join the sequel to Fantastic Four which will see the original actors Michael Chiklis, Ioan Gruffud, and Chris Evans team up again in the superhero action movie. Julian McMahon is expected to be back for the sequel also.

Agreed. Clearly Salma Hayek is the natural for this part.

Simpson looks the part but can't act, Lohan is too young to be believable in the role to me, so of the people mentioned Hudson would have made the most sense to me.

Forget the Jessica Alba casting. Jimmy Fallon??? This guarantees the film will be a flop! I could see Fallon in the Major Healy role, but not as Anthony Nelson.
