I HATE Gambo... ok hate is a strong word, I greatly DISLIKE Gambo....

Hey guys, sorry I know I'm fairly new to the board but I need to vent about something that's really caught my IRE.

Ok SO John Gambadoro on KTAR has been on my **** list since 2001 anyways because when the Diamondbacks played the Yankees in the world series I had to listen to him jabber on about how great the Yankees are, how much Phoenix sucks compared to New York and how we didn't have a chance...

Mind you this is LOCAL radio.

Then after the series I had to listen to him cry about how Gonzo's hit 'shouldn't have counted cuz it was a bloop'.

Now I cant even listen to KTAR on my way home from work because all Gambo does is again, talk about how great the Giants are and how great New York is and how the Giants are going to 'beat the Cardinals *&# on Sunday'.

actually the whole quote was this:

"I hope Adrian Wilson doesn't get suspended because I dont want the Cardinals to have any excuses when the Giants beat their asses on Sunday."

I dont care if he's a New Yorker or not,, I'M NOT. I was born and raised in AZ and it would be cool if I could listen to some local radio without having to hear the host bash the hometown team for NO REASON.

Seriously, I live in AZ and I have to listen to a Giants fan on LOCAL radio, how pathetic is that?

This wouldn't happen in any other city. If it was reversed and a NY DJ said the Giants were gonna get their ***** beat by the Cardinals, he'd be fired.

Sucks when we have to deal with haters in OUR OWN STATE ON LOCAL TALK RADIO.

I'm not saying he HAS to be a Cardinal fan, but driving home, there are 2 choices for local sports talk in the Valley and I cant listen to KTAR because the host constantly bashes the Cardinals and Arizona because he's a New Yorker.

I called and told them I wanted to call Gambo out for being a hater on the air, and ofcourse, wasn't allowed on the air.

It sucks and it really bothers/angers me.

Actually, for the past 15 years, the #1 Sports Talk radio station in the country WFAN (The Fan in NYC) has been hosted by Mike Francessa and Chris Russo (Mike and the Mad Dog). Russo is a SF Giants fan and despises the Yankees... He would routinely route against them, and somehow survived all those years in NY - though there were often times threats against his life...

I completely agree with everything you said. I feel the same way about Ban Dickley in the Repulsive. However, they are the #1 rated sports talk show in the valley. As long as the show puts out those numbers, he will be on our local radio.

That is why I listen, just to hear people get worked up over him. If you listen a lot you will come to find out he loved Phoenix and roots for Phoenix teams, expect when they play NY.

I heard Mad Dog on Opie & Anthony the other day. He has an XM show, well station pretty much, and he sounds like he is knowledgeable and level headed. Aside from his voice that is. I will probably give him a listen when O&A are on holiday.

Don't let it bother you, in the rare instance something's wrong with my satellite radio or there is a big local story I'm forced to to listen to local radio sports guys. It is actually quite shocking how little basic common sports knowledge people some of the hosts possess and Gambo is arguably the biggest offender.

The last time I listened to them was the day Lute Olson retired and I laughed about every ten minutes as these guys continued to spout off "facts" that anyone who even casually follows college hoops would know to be completely false.

I'd find a national syndicated show if I were you, an unfortunate part of living in a poor sports town means we have to for the most part endure inferior sports media with little competition.

Gambo from NY, and even worse in my opinion is the love for Chicago from Bickley and Bob Kemp. Drives me nuts, I'm a transplant to AZ but still root for the local teams. Coming from So. IL I grew up a Card (football and baseball) fan and despise the windy city, so listening to local radio at times makes you want to drive to the station and b*tch slap some of these guys.

In chicago Jay Mariotti rips the bear, hawks, Sox, and Bulls. Rips their owners, their fans, their stadiums.....everything. But ya know what.....people read his articles and gave him the satisfaction.

After a while he was physically threatened in the Sox and Bears locker rooms and eventually he "resigned"

Point being---- dont turn the dial to that station whenever that jerky is on the radio. I remember people being upset about that douche Pedro Gomez too

I listen to Bickley and MJ, only for MJ. I always wonder what the ratings are like when Bickley is off doing something for the paper. Like when he went to Beijing for the Olympics.

Normally the stuff they talk about, I find here, but was posted a few hours before their show. It makes me wonder if they surf the site.

Bickley and MJ have the best show in the morning. Sure Bickley is an ***** but at least MJ talks NFL most of the time and is knowledgable about it.

Gambo and Ash have the best show in the evening.

Everyone else is just amature hour and unlistenable. Sure Gambo is an idiot but at least he is somewhat entertaining.

Well now that XM has merged with Seruis I reuped my subscription this week with XM. My radio never leaves the NFL Network now.
