Saw this morning that the owners voted to opt out of the current CBA in 2011. How does that affect teams trying to resign players until then??

I don't think teams or players will act any differently b/c they're all certain that a new deal will get done (it has to or there won't be an NFL anymore). Teams can't afford bank on there not being a salary cap or anything like that. They'll continue to run with business as usual and a new agreement is in place long before it's ever a problem.

We as fans wont notice a difference at all. There may be a few minor tweaks and clauses put into contracts but for the most part it wont effect anything. Same thing as the last time we went through this process just a few years ago.

So does that mean 08, 09, and 2010 are all safe at this point?

It was my understanding without a CBA you can't be a restricted free agent until 6 years of service. The players are the ones that will see the biggest change.

Joe, do you know what these loopholes that allowed the Cowboys to extend Barber and Newman are? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3405348
