After giving up 532 yards and 20 first downs to Tennessee the Cardinals are ready to beat Minnesota? Wow. I don't see Minnesota scoring less than 30, probably more like 40 next week.

Mockler, I couldn't be farther than from agreeing with you. Brett Favre has NOWHERE the mobility that Vince Young has. There is a VERY good possibility that Favre gets hurt next week. Even if he doesn't, he will be hurried, harrassed, and forced to move so often that he just might throw a pick or 5. I know I wouldn't be wanting to get on the field to play the surly bunch that will be wearing the Red on Defense next week. This loss will stay with them until they PLAY IT AWAY.

Also, no matter who starts next weeks game for us, you can bet the he will have gotten the reps that the starter deserves during the week, unlike what Leinart had to deal with this week. There will be points enough for all the doubters.

Yeah, Favre's lack of mobility is really hurting the Vikings and his statistics. 400 yards and 3 more TD's today. 24/3 TD to INT ratio. Now, Vince Young had a career day against this defense so Favre's going to struggle with it? How many yards did Young run for today? I only recall one first down that his mobility was even an issue. The Cards sacked him 4 times and he still put up 400 yards and NO turnovers.

Because he's missed so many games recently? Ever? And Favre getting hurt wouldn't exactly solve the Cardinals' problems since Tavarious is a Young clone.
This loss will stay with them until they PLAY IT AWAY.
Sadly, I fear this loss is the beginning of the end. Losing 3 straight is looming on the horizon.

OKAY-----I WILL tell you ------ I do have higher expectations than a moral victory. This doesn't go any better in my craw than it does in yours, or most certainly in our players mouths.
BUT
That doesn't mean that I am willing to throw our team under the bus. I believe that our players, ESPECIALLY THE DEFENSE, did exactly what the coaching staff asked for them to do today-----contain Vince Young, and their running back, and keep the ball in Vince Young's hands to see if he can beat us by passing his way to a win. That is precisely what he did, and I don't believe that he has ever done that before, and he CERTAINLY has never made a sustained 99 yard drive for a TD with virtually no time remaining on the clock to get a WIN.

That was the game plan, and except for the long TD run that Tennessee got, (which was negated on the following play by LSH's return TD), they executed the game plan well enough to win. Vince just did not collapse under the pressure like NEARLY THE WHOLE WORLD FELT HE WOULD DO UNDER THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES.

The game plan was sound, we played well enough to win, Vince just beat us with a miracle finish. Get over it. The team will. And I have already.

did we really "contain" (your words) CJ? An 85 yard TD & 154 yards rushing isn't my measure of containing.

What part of (except for one long TD play) do you not understand. I said that without that play we contained him. I think 69 yards total, (except for that play), is pretty good containment.

You don't seem willing to give the defense credit for accpmplishing the game plan. The plan was to make Vince pass to beat us. He did that, despite what probably ALL the game planners believed he could do. Give the man some credit. He made a drive not unlike Elway did that will forever be remembered.

It doesn't work that way. It might be one thing if it was Jerome Bettis or something and he broke some fluke long run but Johnson's game is the big play. He is either contained ALL day or he isn't. Vince Young's scrambling/running was contained. Johnson's wasn't.

reality is that play happened.

How many times have teams contained a player then he hurts you for that one play. He allowed the Titans to manage the clock & keep our offense of the field & open up the passing game.

My dad asked why I wasn't flipping out and screaming at the TV any more, especially when they lost. I told him that sometimes you just lose, and that there aren't big holes in the game that you scream about (although Brown's play almost elicited some screaming).

A lot of people are going to flip out over that drive. The 4th downs were all on managable distances. We didn't have our best linebacker. We had a huge fluke play go against us. We were playing a hot team.

It happens. I'm not saying our defense played terribly well today, but we were there with the lead at the very end. It wasn't a horrible demoralizing victory. It sucked, yes, but it wasn't crushing.
