I have pre-season sins, and I need to confess.

Friends, your time is appreciated.

During Preseason, again this was preseason, let me make that clear... lol

When Whis decided to go with Warner I made the following statement to my dad when he called and asked me how I felt about Kurt starting over Matt.

"Dad, I just feel like we're putting all our eggs in one basket to win NOW. Ya Kurt is the better QB right now, I have no doubt about that but how many years does he have left in him? Is it worth it to set Matt back another year in development just to make the playoffs this season? Dont we need to find out if this kid can play or not? I mean seriously, how much better is Kurt going to make us, are we going to the Super Bowl this year if Kurt's our starting QB?"

In my dad's defense he said; "we might" then we both chuckled the chuckle of impossibility.

So you all know the score, Kurt has taken us to the superbowl, and YES it was totally and completely worth it no matter what happens next year.

So ok now I feel a little better, I had to get that out before the superbowl. I have had major guilt since the NFC Championship, I kept having bad dreams that Kurt called after the NFC Championship and was like, hey Bert, two words, SUPER BOWL!!! Kiss my ass, LOSER! (yes I know Kurt would never say that)

I can admit when I'm wrong, and I was WRONG about Kurt and his ability to take this team to great places. Can I ever be forgiven?

There is plenty of forgiveness that needs to go around regarding the "are we making the right decision by starting Kurt" debate.

Buy me a beer and I will forgive you. :)

no way in hell i thought at the beginning of this season would end in tampa for us
i did however tell several friends that since i canceled about 5 years of suday ticket cause i couldn't stand watching us lose in such spectacular improbable ways any longer, that we would probaly make the playoffs

but the superbowl from preseason i don't think anybody foresaw that

Eh forget it.

I myself in a fit of rage disowned the team after the Philly game, said I didn't even care if they made it to the SuperBowl I was proving a point etc.

I wasn't disowning the team forever just this year and presto they made it.

I guess in some small way I contributed but if my eating crow helped at all it was worth every bite.

I said pretty much the same thing. I can't say I've ever been so happy to be so completely and laughably wrong.

We are in the freaking Super Bowl! The only way this gets better is if we win.

My wife is getting a little sick of me. She'll call me and I will just say "Arizona Cardinals are in the Super Bowl" instead of hello. Or in the middle of a conversation I'll just look at her point at my hat/shirt/jacket or whatever Cardinal merchandise I am wearing and say simply, "NFC Champs".

I made the same statements this year, it can be found on this board.

I was in Matt Leinart's corner with my opinion, but was going to support whomever the coaches decided on in the preseason.

I though Matt Leinart would give us a better chance of winning in the future, and that Warner would make us better right now. But unless we were going to the Superbowl (at the time I didn't think that was a possibility) who cares about the short term.

WRONG! Oh well, in this case it is very good to be wrong.

But at the time this team wasn't a Superbowl team. It wasn't until DRC got his starting spot, and Rolle started to better understand his position (he still has a ways to go, he himself knows this) till we were good enough.

:lmao: Who could have imagined the turn around that happened after startling losses to Philly, Minn. and NE. I mean we won the west, but what did it prove?! Then came the Seattle home game and the crowd started out and we we're ticked. We let them know it too. And they came out and responded. Edge seemed revitalized and we had another piece to the puzzle in place.

Then came the Atlanta home playoff game. This crowd was ELECTRIC for the first home playoff game in Phx/Az Cardinals history. We helped will that win.

Then came the unlikely demise of the Giants and rise of the Eagles all at the same time this football team JELLED at just the right moment with their biggest W EVER on the east coast. A thumping of another nemisis, the Carolina Panthers.

So NOW we have the unlikely scenario w/ an Eagles victory , that the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP actually comes through the valley of the sun! Who coulda thunk it!

The rest as they say was and IS being made history!

GO CARDINALS! :newcards: #1

You're not alone my brother. In fact you're in the majority.

I hear ya, my wife is saying the same thing to me. Everytime we are out and about I tell people have you heard the Cardinals are in the superbowl? She just shakes her head and say I am embarassing her. I tell her I am just educating the masses.

I thought the EXACT same thing. And its because I never thought KW could get is this far. As soon as the NFC championship was over I was wrong on my entire premise of why Matt was the right guy for this year. I thought it was short sighted and that Kurt didn't have the goods to take us this far. And even as late as halfway through the last Seattle game I was booing him.

And he stuck all the crow I could handle down my throat.

And never have I been so happy to be so wrong. :)

I can remember I was sitting, eating supper, and watching the news when it came on that Kurt was going to be our QB. (All through camp I had been wanting this.) At that moment I turned to my family, threw up my arms in a TD sign and said, "WE ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!"

They all looked at me like I had grown a third eye and had become a blithering idiot.

Just had that feeling.

My feeling going into Sunday's game? This is a team of destiny. I think Sunday will be our biggest blessing yet.

I had them going 9-7 this year and winning 1 playoff game. That was it. Everything else is icing on the cake.

Hubby is getting annoyed at me too ... I'm always asking him "hey, have you heard?" And he always falls for it. "What, what ???"

WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!

His reply: "you're an idiot"

I now answer my phone with,

"Arizona Cardinal Headquarters, Home of the NFC Champions. How can I help you?"
