No, daisy cutter said he'd submit himself to a spanking given by me...

...still don't know what to say to that.

Becomes the next Cris Carter, wins four Super Bowls, becomes one of the first WRs to win MVP, and gets a contract with $40 million guaranteed.

Seriously? Mitch says that Fitz "isn't even that good"?

Sorry guys, but we as fans obviously don't know what to do when our Top 5 pick inexplicably works out and performs up to his draft status. We obviously don't deserve Larry Fitzgerald, who plays 60 out of a possible 64 games in his career, make the Pro Bowl twice, and is the first Arizona Cardinal to actually start the Pro Bowl in recent memory.

So, Fitz, I hope you get traded to a team and a fan base that will appreciate you. You deserved the contract that you got here, and you deserve the money that you've earned. But we obviously haven't earned the opportunity to watch you play. Especially after you took this offense on your back for 9 weeks this season when Boldin went down and people here don't think "you're even that good."

Well said. I couldn't agree more.

Only in Cardinal land does it come to this. If Fitz will not accept a contract making him the highest paid WR in the league then I think we should go on and pursue a trade. Q deserves to be the WR we build around on this team and I think has much more impact on a game than Fitz. I would like to have both but seems to be impossible at this point. Better to get some value than letting him walk like we did with Big.

Because NFL contracts are back-loaded funny money.

Fitz is an awesome receiver with hands of Velcro, but he is not worth the #3 salary in the NFL. He has no burn speed to get separation. That is a hell of a lot of money to pay someone who touches the ball 10-12 times per game.

Is he worth a $25M bonus over 3-4 years? Yes, absolutely. Is he worth 1/6 of the teams salary cap, no.

Finally, a voice of reason. Bless you!

Yes. I agree with you here. BUT Contracts are purposely backloaded so that GM's can renegotiate the deals before they are at the funny money stage. Most of us were around last year, there was very little talk, if any of Fitz restructuring then.

If this same deal that the Cards have been offering (rumored) would have been offered last year, I have no doubt that the Fitz would have taken the deal. I blame Graves and upper management 75%, the agent 24% or so, and Fitz MAYBE 1%. (Yep, I've got it down to a formula. :) )

Do people honestly beleive they thought Fitz would hit those esculators? I mean we were supposed to be going with Leinart and arun oriented offense with the Whiz then Matty goes down so Kurt comes in and hello pass offense, then Q goes down then hello holy inflated numbers for Fitz. I believe they never thought he would hit the incentives but a few things went wrong which enabled Fitz to hit them. If he doesn't want to cooperate with the team then trade him, he is a great possesion type reciever but certainly not top 5 and we can't afford to cash strap this team for him.

Yes. I thought that both Boldin and Fitzgerald had a realistic shot at making the probowl.

Larry Fitzgerald certainly is a Top 5 WR in the NFL.

1. Randy Moss
2. Terrell Owens
3. Larry Fitzgerald
4. Torry Holt
5. Reggie Wayne.

I agree that they gambled that Fitz wouldn't hit the 2nd Pro Bowl escalator, but Matt went down in Week 5, and Anquan went down in Week 4. After that, the team should have started having those discussions with Parker and Fitz. Instead, they hid under a bunch of coats and hoped that things would work themselves out. Hope for the best (in this case, more like the worst), but prepare for the worst (if you can say your Top 3 pick making two pro bowls "worst").

True enough, but by Week 8 Fitz was on pace for 100 receptions and 1474 yards. They were probably right to gamble at the beginning of the season, but by the mid-point, they must have been pretty worried. Or at least, they ought to have been.

Why would they think that negotiations would go as poorly as they have been going? It makes sense to redo this contract for both sides. Parker and Fitz better hope Fitz makes it through this year in good shape or they have just thrown a bunch of dollars out of the door.

I don't know that they've been going "poorly", but we know that the discussions didn't start until after the Super Bowl. Why wait that long? If nothing else, Graves ought to have known that these negotiations would take a while, and they could have started discussing the parameters for a new contract in November. They would have been much further along than they are now.

Of course, I don't really expect you to understand. None of the missteps that the Cards' front office makes are possible to be anticipated.
