that was driving me nuts last night the draw plays never worked.

Of course we couldn't run the ball at all last night but Warner was so good it didn't matter.

Agree on the draw play. The only "run play" working last night was Q's wildcat.

Urban didn't catch the kickoff at the end of the half. He got in way and it bounced off his hands out of bounds. Talk about blowing an opportunity.

Really, can we just put J.J. back on kickoffs and limit Steve to punt returns and receiving? I'm afraid he's gonna get hurt on one of these kickoffs, plus J.J. is as good or better on kickoffs IMO.

Yeah I forgot about Urban's screwup on the KO return, that was a bad play. He caught every pass.

Totally agree it's like JJ busts a long one for a TD and since that he's been demoted for Breaston. He's had 9 returns this year and 8 of them have been at least 20 yards, don't get why they went back to Breaston, especially as you say because he's been so good at WR.

That one catch of a too-high fastball was a thing of beauty. The type of throw that often turns into a pick because it sails and/or gets tipped, and Urban made it a big positive.

but it seemed the Niners ran twists on the d line all night long -- which means d linemen werent coming straight up field at the snap -- which kinda makes draws hard. Also, it seemed like Willis and Spikes were camped in zone coverage in the middle, so as soon as they read run, they were five yards away from the LOS and facing the play.

I bet everytime the 49er D coordinator saw Warner handing off he said "whew, thanks".

TH looked bad last night thank god Warner was as good as it gets!

Agree Breaston should only do PR if anything he is becoming to valuable as a WR to have taking all those big hits on KR, that and he isn't very good at KR. JJ should be taking all the KO returns imho not sure what the coaching staff is seeing that none of us are, I mean has Breaston busted any big returns on a KO in the last year?

JJ is 8 for 9 in KO returns for at least 20 yards. Breaston is 14 for 23.

He's simply being asked to do too much, he's on the field all the time in 3 Wr sets, punt returns, and KO returns. Got to give JJ the KOR full time.

yep that's the same thing that happened against Carolina when JJ couldn't make the catch and it got picked. Tim really stretched out for that. As someone else said urban had a great one on a bullet too.

You also have to hand it to the 49er defense, they were really hitting hard last night, our guys paid for all those catches, but they held on.

So Edge would have had a big game last night? He did have a couple of carries in case you missed it. Neither Edge or TH were getting yards on the ground last night. Just wasn't there and the delayed draw they kept using with TH put him in such a bad position Jim Brown couldn't have run from it.

Do you really not see the difference? In the Carolina game there were several plays where Edge had a hole and only got a few yards where a faster player like TIm, would get more.

last night there were no holes, even Edge's 2 runs netted a whopping 4 yards. The only guy who had a decent run last night was Anquan on the direct snap.

Nobody faults Edge when there's no room to run, the problem is when there was, he was leaving too many yards out there with his lack of speed.

I said it in the game thread last night, they need a rule that Deuce can not talk to Levi during the game. Again last night Deuce is pointing out a defensive player to make sure they block him, and Levi jumps. It's amazing, I don't know who to blame is Levi so tightly wound that a teammate doing that makes him jump? that's like 3 times in recent games, remember not that long ago Levi was yelling at Deuce after it happened.

Deuce was not good either, one of the issues with our offense is Kurt is changing a lot of plays at the LOS, we jump so much that's a scary combo in a playoff game with a really loud crowd.

I'd just take the run plays out and do series of nothing but the gun, in fact if you're going to do that, line up in your base package, not in the gun, run one running play or pass then go hurry up and trap their base package on the field.

Agreed, it's a dilemma because Kurt is like out of this world good from the shotgun, but as you said it's hard to run from it and hard not to tip plays.

Speaking of tipped plays I guess a couple of Cards defenders said they knew from formation that the last play was going where it did, that's why they were all over Robinson. Glad to hear our guys are studying film and figuring this stuff out.
