He would be an immediate impact player at TE and help us counteract whats going on over there in Seattle on D. Of course Edge and the two WR's who should go nameless are a big help too.

You're right. With Peterson signing in Seattle, Davis might negate him. They'd probably have to have Peterson run with him in paterns--bringing him away from the run on play action and keeping him from rushing the QB on passing plays.

But, I really doubt he'll be there.

With the Peterson signing, I might rank Cutler and Davis 1a and 1b in my book. Young at #2, I think.

It's going to be an interesting draft, that's for sure. It'd the first DG draft where I'm not fairly confident of at least the position he'll select.

:bang: Sigh. Vernon Davis is not a good fit. Give it up, guys. It is a rock-solid guaranteed sure thing we won't draft Davis under any condition.

Skkorp, I know you don't like the pick, but that doesn't mean he's not a "good fit."

If he's there at #10 and Young is gone, he'll be the BPA by a mile. So, then you'd have two things we hold true about denny at odds with each other: he doesn't utilize a pass-cactching TE and he takes the BPA. So then what happens? Does his head explode?

The reason Denny hasn't utlized a pass-catching TE is because he's never had one. I'd bet that if Davis is there we snatch him up faster than you can say "4-headed monster."

I disagree whole heartedly!!!

Not only could he be our TE but hell, you could put him as a WR. Not to mention I heard his pro day he caught everything AND he was suppose to sit out but he couldn't because he just wanted to perform!!!

Quan
Fritz
Edge
with VD!!!!

Ha....

D's will be crapping their pants!!!

Totally agree. Every other year a tight end comes out that will "revolutionize the position". I don't buy it. Vernon Davis has been a decent player in college, but a workout all star...

Plus Dennis Green has never gone after a tight end other than Byron Chamberlain when he was with the Vikings. He also drafted Kleinsasser, but he did that to bolster the run game.

Denny started Hunter Goodwin...that shows you what he thinks of a tight end: basically another blocker in the run game.

just curious as to why you would say that...is it just based on past drafting?? use of the TE in the offense??? maybe i answered my own question.

thanks

This would carry a lot more weight if you had any track record at all about being right on these predictions. How's the Phillip Rivers bandwagon coming along? He's been a lot better than Eli Manning so far.

I really like Vernon Davis, but I wouldn't kill myself if we passed on him. I really don't like Jay Cutler, though.

40, I want VD too :)

speaking of which, where's your sister?

j/k :D

Never had one, but if I had and she was any thing like me, VD would be the least thing you had to worry about.;)

This is all proabaly a moot point. Vernon Davis, Michael HUff and Ngata should all be gone by the time we pick leaving us with Jay Cutler who has the physical ability to fill in this year and win a starting spot next year. We would be reaching for him at 10, but now days you have to reach for QB's or you don't get them. I don't plan to be able to spend a high pick on a QBOF if we are in the playoffs from here on out. MIght as well grab one now if all the impact guys are gone.

1-Huff
2-Cutler
3-Nagata
4-Vernon Davis
5-Vince Young
(if Leinart is aruond he goes to the number 1 spot)
