Big thing will be if we trade away, say like our second or third rounder this year with some "compensatory" coming next year. I can see this happening to, especially if they want a hella fat stack of bargaining chips in the 2014 draft.
I think our second round pick will be super desirable, with this year's topsy terby draft, everyone's gotta different list on their big boards. Some big names will make it to round 2, if we do the electric slide the shock will hurt for a minute but if we get a killer offer...
First round, between our needs and this draft, there is enough fat guys to make our pick a nice one.I was part of the OG Trade Down Twizzle-thirt-izzle Krewe, but every team in the NFL knows this draft is garbage. Hard to believe that anyone is going to give up a future asset unless someone stellar falls to the Cards.
Based on the scenarios that I'm seeing, the Cards' options at the top of the first are going to be mighty slim.

I'm hanging out with Teo's girlfriend...the real one.Sorry. Top of the second. Looks like it's time for me to take a break. I'm reading what isn't there and writing what I don't intend.
I don't think it's darkside at all, I think it's a calculated move to make some real moves later.
Yup most definitely. They need to rid themselves of the stink Whisenhunt and Graves put on this team. I'd be fully content with Hoyer and Stanton with Lindley as the number 3 this year and get the QBOF in 2014. Barring some sort of miracle the Cards are most likely picking top 3 in 2014.
It sounds like some of you aren't intending to watch much Cardinals football in 2013.
I would kind of like to, which is why I wish the Cards would make some effort to put a competitive product on the field this year.
It's stunning that the reports are that the Cards are holding on to Kevin Kolb in case Drew Stanton decides to play somewhere else (per Kent Somers). If you're holding on to an $11M quarterback to see if you can get a guy who'd like to get $2M, you're making some terrible decisions.
I'll watch every game this game K9 and won't complain a 1/10th as I did the past three seasons. I appreciate your point of view regarding Whisenhunt and it makes sense, but there is no way this organization was returning to anywhere near the glory days of 2008 with him as a coach, especially with the decisions he was making.
I also agree holding on to Kolb in case Stanton doesn't come here is a bad choice, but to me it highlights just how poorly run and coached this team was the past three years.
If the Cards do bad next year they are in line for a legit QBOF in 2014, if they do well, then it's something they can build upon.
I'm excited either way. They are tearing it down all the way and rebuilding and the days of the mismanaged, miscoached and cronyism are over and that is something I can get excited about.
I'll hold you to that promise. I intend to complain about asking fans to pay for a terrible product and having to make excuses to my wife about why I need to watch Cardinals games that are going to be unwatchable.
Whis and Graves aren't holding on to Kolb. Keim and Arians are. So why do you have hope for the future?
A season of life it too precious to waste intending to bottom out and get a draft pick next year. Wasting a year of Larry Fitzgerald's career. Wasting a year of Patrick Peterson's. Ruining a season with the young talent we have here. Burning maybe Darnell Dockett's last season as a near-elite player. Wasting the first or second year of Calais Campbell's prime.
It's a pretty steep cost to pay for a lottery ticket that has a 50% chance of panning into anything, and a 15% chance of turning into something special.
No doubt it sure is, but that is also the cost of poor decisions for past decisions. Anyone paying the least bit of attention could see this train wreck coming a mike away. I saw it coming the year Warner retired. Allowing the Whisenhunt/Graves era to continue one day further would have most assuredly allowed all of those terrible things to happen...if those players even stated.
The Cards are in a precarious situation. They may need to overpay to keep guys like PP or risk losing them, but that's the penance of making bad decisions.
Another point, I love Fitz as much as the next guy, but that contract they gave him was freaking ridiculous. Signing Kolb just to keep Fitz was even more ridiculous. Having Fitz is a luxury we simply cannot afford right now. It's like owning a Ferrari, but living in a cardboard box in an alley.
The only bargaining chip the Cards have right now is Fitz and they can't move him.
Great post K9 you're making to much sense.I'll hold you to that promise. I intend to complain about asking fans to pay for a terrible product and having to make excuses to my wife about why I need to watch Cardinals games that are going to be unwatchable.

Four of the Cards' losses last season were by a TD or less. We were 3-4 in all games decided by a TD or less. That's not an epic disaster of a season where the entire thing needs to be blown up.
More troublingly, we've lost three pieces of the only effective unit we put out on the field--the defense. People can assert that Adrian Wilson, William Gay, and Greg Toler were part of the problem, but there's no evidence to back that up.
So we've taken at least a step back talent-wise on defense. We've also taken at least a half-step back talent-wise on offense by cutting loose Beanie Wells and Early Doucet. I'd argue that we've taken another half-step back with our defensive coordinator, but I'm willing to give Arians the benefit of the doubt.
So we're talking about taking a full step back with our best unit--for what? Our offense probably isn't going to improve this season. In fact, it might be much, much worse. So where are we going to be better at this time in 2014?
Besides the balance sheet?

Reports are reports amigo, I'm still waiting for Andy 95% Reid to hit the valley of the sun. My favorite Kolb report was how he (Kolb) was the reason Peyton didn't come here....that stretch was golden.holy crap... is this really true? if so, y'all might have to wake me in 2023 when Keim is finally given his walking papers ala his boss/mentor Mr. Graves.

This is going to be a long season, but tank goodness we are used to the hurt. Tank goodness our losses might come with some answers in the draft. Tank goodness we aint (PROBABLY) reaching for a QB in the draft. Tank goodness we might have some money to throw around in the first hour of free agency next year. We must be very tankful for not just going 7-9 to go 7-9 the next year and the next year and the next.
Well.....we're in the "It's the last games of the season and I hope we lose them all" mode.
Rooting for the Cards to lose....that's the ticket.
Yeah, our motto appears to be "give up before they make us give up". It may be true but I think I'll hold onto my dreams a little longer - at least through the draft.
