...with the backward facing cardinal the battle cry could be Monty Python's, "Run away, run away!" LOL!

A while back Todd (creator of Spawn) McFarland had said that he wanted to do a logo for the Cards. I wonder if they took him up on it.

That would be awesome!

First, McFaraland did do a Emmit Smith NFL action figure for his sports line...

http://www.spawn.com/toys/product.aspx?product=1633

not that it has anything to do with it, he also owns part of the Coyote's doesn't he? The hockey team? Maybe not, but if he does maybe he's a closet cardinal fan.

Secondly, a lot of talk about black uniforms, but if uni's are debuted this Thurs, that'd mean one more season in the sun...
the desert sun in black?
Or maybe it's rotational as a glimpse. Indoor-away games this year, full time next?

Ugly!!!!!!!!!!!! That goes for the logo changes suggested and black. Lets just have no originality and follow all the other sheep to black (Ravens, Eagles, Jaguars, Falcons etc)

I agree. Not that it is ugly, but that it basicly copies the Falcons.

Am I the only one who thinks a uniform chage would suck? The only good purpose a uniform change would serve is identifying the lame bandwagon fans that show up when the Cardinals start kicking ass next year...

I'll take my changes made in the performance of the product on the field not unsubstantial fluff like a logo change

That is a good enough reason to me but it would also change the "same ol' Cards" perception. Years of losing is equated in the current uniforms. Much of it is in Arizona. I really like the uniforms as is but a change could be good. Just not too much. The bengals stuff is too much. Adding cardinal wings to the helmet AKA the eagles is too much. Keep the logo. Keep the colors. Redesign the pattern. And yes, get rid of the blue stripe..

I think these are great posts.

I couldn't agree more that it seems the majority of those who are pimping radical changes do tend to be the newer, lamer, bandwagon-type fan.

And I couldn't disagree with the this post more:

This is not your fathers Arizona/St.Louis/Chicago Cardinals, They are the ARIZONA Cardinals.

Yes they are the Arizona cardinals and have been for what? 20 years now?
And they ARE the Cardinals, one of the original first teams of the NFL. There IS a lot of tradition to this team. (yeah, yeah, not all of it is good, but every team can say that too. Change the personnel <at whatever level> and results will change.)
True the personnel who take the field each year changes, coaches are always changing, etc. lots of things change every day, every week, every year.

And what's wrong with this team being "your father's team"....other than the obvious dig that seems intended by some of the futility of won/lost record.???

There's a lot of good history too.

And wouldn't it be nice if we, like some of the other teams (like say the Bears, or Giants, or Steelers, etc., who does have sons, their fathers, and grandfathers who have all been fans their entire life had some of that here too?
And I frickin' guarantee that it won't be uniform changes that changes the "losing" tradition that some of the newbies so often whine about.

Look what happened to the Browns, yeah Cleveland now has a team called the Browns, but they have no relation to the team that played there for so many years.....they are the Baltimore Ravens now.

Look at Tampa Bay, I don't think the Cards have ever been as much of a laughing stock as the Bucs were.....but winning changed all that real quick.

and lastly....another post that I think tells it like it really is:

Ugly!!!!!!!!!!!! That goes for the logo changes suggested and black. Lets just have no originality and follow all the other sheep to black (Ravens, Eagles, Jaguars, Falcons etc)

Most of the "newbies" you whine about have probably been fans as long as you have. Put your money where your mouth is, you've been a fan since 1987? JUST LIKE MOST OF THE PHOENIX FANS??

You're a complete hypocrite loser.

eh, change is fun. tradition has it's place. and there are always throwback jersey games, which is cool (unless you're the cards and it just means white jerseys with white helmets (sans logo) and tan pants - whoo-friggin'-hoo). i'd like to see a change. i always thought the team should have had a change when they moved to az. the identity of the team belongs in the city of origination. chicago should have been the cardinals. st. louis should have gotten a new name. each city should get it's own identity. i liked that the browns changed to the ravens when they moved.

:violin:

And you are supposed to be a moderator?
What a complete joke!

And where was I "whining" about anyone being fans as long as I have?
You are as bad as Cheesy for twisting and distorting other people's comments to fit your own little take.

My whole point was "generational" history etc. There are indeed some fans here that did follow the team before it came to Arizona, a few even that may go back to the chicago days. It will be nice once the team has been here longer than it has, but the whole point was....they will still be the Cardinals with a rich history with both ups and downs.

The 50 year old man who can say to his grandson, as he takes him to a game:'
"This is a great day,it takes me back to when I was young and my grandfather would take me to Card games....what a great memory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS....from the Cards site...history section:

The Cardinals, founded in 1898 and a charter member of the National Football League, hold the distinction of being the oldest continuously run professional football franchise in the nation

I think he equates "newbies" meaning new to posting on this or any other message board. I also believe he refers to "newbies" as young people.. so in turn this must automatically make them dumb.

Is that fair to say tango? I knew it wouldn't be complete without you insulting someone.

You are right except for the part about "this must make them automatically dumb".
That's your comment and certainly doesn't reflect my views.

1) I agree with this, I just don't have to be a tool to make my point.
2) I know as much about their history as you do, so spare me the lesson.

Again whatever point you might have had is lost in your typical BS.

Good post. Who lifted the rock that let Tango out. I haven't read any of his typical long winded, arrogant, ranting in a while.

I may off a year or two but haven't the Cards been in AZ almost as long as they were in St. Louis? It's time to truly finalize the AZ identity.

So where did I challenge your knowledge of history, or try to claim I knew any more about it than you? What an ego, to even think so much of my posts would even directly be concerned about YOU, personally???

amazing, simply amazing!!!

The Cards were in St. Louis from 1960-1987.
