The first replay they showed of "the touchdown" was from the goalpost camera and reinforced my conviction that Holmes never got both feet down. The next time they talked about it they showed a freeze frame from a less critical angle from which it appeared both feet are down. That call still aggravates me! :pullhair:

I'll give Rothlisberger credit for one thing, when Andrea Kraemer <sp> asked him post game, "What statment have the Steelers made here tonight?" Rothlisberger's reply was, "Not a thing! We have to get ready for Chicago next week."

Yeah, if I'm real honest with myself, the true source of my hatred is envy.

But I dont' have to be honest most of the time ;)

I have to live with seeing Steeler stuff every day since the Harrisburg Pa area is big Steeler country. I just wish some one would knock Ward into next week with a blindside block and knock him out of a game or two. He is the one Steeler I dislike the most.

North Korea and Iran. Which one is less evil? Right now is the Stealers and their store-bought officials.

Why is officiating (whether the NFL or the NBA) always an issue with some of you guys. Theres missed calls in every game on both sides of the ball. Im quite sure the Cards got advantageous calls in their favors at different points during last season. But some of you always tend to ignore those and harp on the ones that "did you in".

You guys need to quit with all that............really makes you guys sound like whiners. Seriously.

If he were in Cards red you wouldnt have anything negative to say about him.....would you ? You'd parrot that same sentiment that Steelers fans do about how youd love his passion, and intensity. If youre refering to the hit last night on the DB it was legal and clean. I like what Ward is doing to DB's. More and More Wideouts should long to be like Hines and force DB's LB's and safeties to respect their games, not just as pass-catchers but vicioius hitters/blockers. Since when is it not fair for a WR to impose hits on DB's in this game ? DB's get running starts and take heads off opposing receivers off when they get their chances. I like Hines evening the score. Its football. Hit or get hit. And if a DB takes issue with it, dress up in pink next play.

I probably would. For as dirty as he plays sometimes hitting unsuspecting defenders isn't tough in my eyes. It actually felt good to see him fumble on that oh so important play.

The media's portrayal as a tough guy actually makes me hate him more. Again, most of his hits are on unsuspecting players. It's easy to knock a player into next week when he is in a vulnerable position.

Since when is it illegal to hit "unsuspecting" defenders? Have todays DB's, LB's, and safties been relegated to fairies (id like to use another term but i wont) to where they can only dish but cant absorb a blow ? Thats pathetic and they wanna call this a real mans game ? Okay.........

And dirty is tryin to hurt someone beyond the rules of the game, goin after knees, or hitting after the whistle. Hines planted that DB just like he did Ed Reed in the "course of the action betweent the whistle". The DB nor did any other Titan take issue cuz it was legal. Its the DB's fault for not being aware.
How many crackback blocks do u see on punt returns or where a broken play or misdirection results in a crackback ? But u dont have issues with those legal blocks do you ? No, only with Hines. Again, i only wish there were other WR's both in college and pros that had his mentality.

Protection for the quarterback (in the 80's) and now the defenders in the new millineum........ridiculous. Listen to what youre preaching. And you call him dirty. Hines takes his share of hits and gets up smiling. But if youre the DB that just took his head off, just remember.........

Its a sad day when this game of football is being reduced to two handed touch. And you have fans embracing that movement for whatever reason.

THIS YEAR!

When you actually endorse Hines hitting people above the shoulder pads and in the helmet area, it's pointless. They might as well called the new rule about above the shoulder pads the 'Hines Ward' rule and rightfully so. No good can come from this type of hit and the NFL agreed that it should not be considered a penalty.

Alas, just call them fairies as you so elegantly put it and you can keep your Hines Ward. We have our own player who is just as tough, (if not tougher) but without the dirty tactics.

Well you go ahead and ride with that.

Might as well make helmets a non-essential piece of equipment. Defenders and ST'ers have been earholing opponents for over 50 years and NOW suddenly when an offensive player dispenses that same intensity and punishment (that u call dirty) it becomes a problem. Gridioron warriors from back in the day would ridicule your notion of what Hines does as dirty or outside the lines.

But, yeah......ride with that (double standard). You see it one way. Although im not so sure youve always seen it that way (pre-Hines Ward).

Might as well not have pads then right? I mean, no reason to protect that area in case of injury? Are you really saying because you shouldn't be allowed to hit in a certain area, that they shouldn't be protected in that area?

I would think that someone who has Big Ben as the QB would want to keep a helmet.

If we keep progressing at the current pace there wont be a need for pads. Seems everyone's warranted some level of protection now...QB's u cant tackle them too hard.....WR's you cant hit em when theyre defenseless.......and now u wanna protect defenders ? Everyone else gets protection now except running backs (whom have the shortest careers) and Special teamers.

I can understand protecting players (to a degree) but you MUST KNOW that when you make the decision to play a game thats as physical as football, hockey or rugby, your chances of injury are very very high. Its the nature of this game and its one of the biggest reasons both u and i watch this game of football. I love a good de-cleating. Anyone remember Yancy Thigpen back in 95-96 and Sun Devil getting laid out and concussed ? He wasnt suspecting but got riveted and everyone in the crowd said "great hit".

Defenders earn respect and reputations based off their body of work in physical play. Atwater, Ronnie Lott, Chuck Cecil and Donnie Shell from the past to Adrian, Brian Dawkins, Ed Reed, Ray Lewis and Urlacher of today. Its a great brand of football and all of these guys have sent opponents players, even star players to the sidelines for retreading, recovery in some fashion. And now when an offensive player that plays a position thats prone to endure violent hits (some of which have led to temp/perm paralysis) turns the tables it becomes a problem. You dont have a problem with that, but i and a host of others do. I dont agree with punishing/ridiculing Ward or others like him for reversing the roles. Wideouts should be more than a moving pick/screen. Let em exact some revenge on the punishment they receive. The next pass play over the middle could always be their last.

Ohh and BTW, Big Ben's tough as nails. You dont hear Steeler fans clamouring about fines against Kearse for a helmet to helmet hit. Its a mans game. I still haven heard whats "dirty".
