We limit turnovers and start forcing some on defense.
I was perusing the stats and found some interesting tidbits:
The Cardinals are #1 in the NFL in total 3rd down conversions.
The Cards are #2 in the NFL with a 57.6% 3rd Down conversion rate. (Minnesota is 1st with 60.7%)
The Cards are tied for #6 in the NFL with 39 total 1st downs.
The Cards are tied for #5 in the NFL for total yards.
The Cards are #5 in the NFL for Passing yards.
The Cards are #16 in the NFL with 94yds rushing per game (This is low because the turnovers force us to abandon the run earlier than we would like).
If we can protect the ball, it is obvious that we will control the clock and keep our defense off the field. The key is to sustain drives and get points.
Judging by these numbers, especially the 3rd down conversion rate, we should be able to do some damage if we protect the ball and force a few turnovers. Converting on 3rd down = sustained drives. Sustained drives without turnovers = points. Points = wins.
Pretty simple, right?
I think that our offense can be explosive...just limit the turnovers!
Thoughts?
