It's is only a gutt feeling but if Henry comes in or we draft a back at #8 and we have Hambrick and Scobey... Shipp will be like Shelton- he won't have a chance to play and both sides will feel a change will be the only solution. I really like Shipp but Green is going to strip the Mac players as a whole from this team except for a few like Davis, Wilson and a few others.

Maybe. But if Shipp is cut before Hambrick then Denny needs to open his eyes. I dont wanna here its a money thing either when were sitting here 7 million above the cap.

I agree

I hope Shipp is given a chance to show what he can offer, I think if he is healthy he is better than Hambrick (he can also do something a lot better than Hambrick...CATCH!)

I agree too...

If Shipp comes back healthy he is very valuable to this offense, I love the way he plays the game.

K9 wont like it, but Shipp is good for Cards, I hope he sticks around for a while. Even if not the starter, he would be type of player who winds up with 700-800 yards rushing and another 300+ recieving in limited duty.

Shipp may not be fast, but he hits holes and has great football instincts, as a matter of fact: SHIPP FOR STARTER:D

I never understood the love fest for Shipp. When last given a chance he had one of the worst yard per carry averages in the league and had Zero touchdowns. Replacing him would be very easy IMO.

It's time to sink the Shipp!

I used to be a huge shipp fan. Still wish him the best of course but when you compare him to say Henry........

He is a very capable and top not back-up. Great for spelling henry once in awhile.

Think of him as many say McCown is. Cant get it done as a starter but capable backup.

There are no fewer than 30 starting runningbacks in the NFL who are better than Marcel Shipp. Only Miami and Tampa have guys that might not be better than him.

And this was before the dislocated ankle.

i agree with this statement a 100%. hambrick is an overated back. the cardinals were the only team that was interested in him when the raidier were just about ready to cut him. how many times did you see hambrick get stop short from a first down. too many for my taste.

Out of 15 3rd down rushes for Hambrick 8 of them were for 1st downs. He had a 7.0 YPC on 3rd down. That is excelent.

He didnt have any 4th down tries by the way.

Inside the red zone where most RB's YPC go down and rightfully so with more stingy D on Run in the red zone, Hambricks YPC was 4.4.

Hambrick exceded my expectations last year and he and Zellner were steals for a 6th rounder.

I still dont like him as a starter but I do as a spot duty starter and backup.

I agree. Hambrick had a good season last year, but I'm not sold on him over Shipp.

Way better.

I think he's better too but you have to remember Shipp is one of the guys that got extended and he makes 900K more in salary than Hambrick. Not sure how long Shipp's deal was but unless he is fully recovered and looks great I'd say he's definitely on the list of guys Green will look to cut. He's a much more complete back than Hambrick but Green doesn't like to pay good money to guys he's not expecting to play much.

Well put.

I'm not saying that Hambirck should be our every down back. However I don't think Shipp should be it either.

Well that 7 YPC number is a bit misleading since he had a 62 yard run amongst those 15 carries. The other 14 produced 43 yards or just over 3 YPC. Yes you can't throw out the 62 yarder it happened(against Miami) but it does sort of skew how effective he was on 3rd down.

The redzone number is similar, he had only 7 carries, one went for 11, the other 6 for 20. Inside the 10 yard line he averaged 2.7 YPC.

I don't have the splits for Shipp since he didn't play last year.

I agree he far exceeded my expectations, but if Shipp can come back healthy I have no doubt he's a more complete RB. I just think his salary will doom him to being cut.
