If Andrew Walter is available in the second round do the Cards take him?

Watch Kyle Orton of Purdue against ASU in the Sun Bowl on Dec. 31. I truly believe this guy would have won the Heisman if he hadn't gotten injured this year.

He looks a lot like Peyton Manning - right down to the last-minute play-calling at the line of scrimmage. Threw for over 2,800 yards this season, even through he missed all or part of two or three games. Over 500 yards passing against Indiana U.

Kyle Orton looks a lot like Peyton Manning? :biglaugh:

Orton is the posterboy for system QB IMHO. Very mediocre arm, he's smart and accurate I'll give him that. I never thought Brees would succeed, he's probably moved Orton's stock up quite a bit the year he's had showing Purdue QB's are not just the system.

We'll see, not very high on Orton myself.

To compare Walter to Navarre is simply ridiculous. Navarre had NFL talent at RB, WR, and on the o-line and sucked in college while Walter had none of the above and was a good QB. I seriously doubt the Cards draft Walter even in the third round for a few reasons.

1. Former ASU QB, #16. Enough said. Similar to when we weren't interetsed in Jake Delhomme

2. He 's going to need to sit for a year and I don't think they want to wait that long.

3. When we passed on Suggs something in the back of my mind told me that we won't be drafting name ASU players anymore. Too much of a potential PR nightmare.

Have you seen him play???

Yes. Not very many times, but the times I did watch him I was not impressed at all. Whoever was mentioning him and heisman in the same sentence earlier in the year should have their lips sewn shut.

.

I'd say Walter had pretty good talent to throw to. McDonald is doing fine in St. Louis and Derek Hagen is going to make it in the NFL too. Not to mention the Miller boys. ASU has had plenty of talent over Walter's tenure, although some of it was a bit raw at times.

Doing fine? Well, I guess if you mean returning kicks in the NFL qualifies as "doing fine"... Hagan may be a fourth reciever on an NFL team, and he can thank Walter for that. Matt Miller sucks, to even mention them as the "Miller Boys" shows your ignorance about ASU football. Zach had a good year, but was understandably sporadic, due to the fact that he is a true freshman. Quick, name one decent running back from Walter's tenure....that's what I thought. Wanna compare the supporting casts of Navarre and Walter? I didn't think so. Watch him play more than "a few games" and then come back with an educated analysis of the guy.

I've been to several ASU games over the years and have watched many more on TV. I just don't like Walter that much, his size, attitude and smarts are his best attributes...he gets tackled way too easy, has a lot of trouble avoiding the rush and some of the passes he throws really have me scratching my head. Without looking it up I doubt his completion % is what I would call impressive. I will agree he didn't have a great supporting cast though but there were times where Hagan, Z. Miller, McDonald and others made him look better than he is.

I do think he has more upside than Navarre but not a great deal more, Navarre was a 7th rounder I wouldn't touch Walter before the 4th.

How about Jason White?

Just watch him in the OB vs. the mighty USC defense.

I know, I know, he looked terrible last year against LSU and K-state.

Just give him one more chance.

I say pass. Too much of a "Plummer Flashback" plus too many questions surrounding his recent injury.

I wouldn't even consider drafting him.
