Well yes, DuckJake... I give you Jake, Jake Plummer who got an outrageous deal and it did not seem to help his fate. My point though is on the opposite spectrum of the so call steal contract which never works out, see Boldin who kept demanding more during his current contract after it had already been adjusted. Some even want us to go cornerback in round 1, oh dandy... and then if we select well he will get ticked for not having Peterson money. But I will not let this phase me since BASK Inc. are professionals and being wrong is my right as a mere fan lol

OMG Michael Floyd is going to be really mad this year! :p :D

Oh I got even a better scenario of crap... let's say we were to sign Peterson to this 'great' deal now and then when Sherman and the bunch get more money later, PP is going to want a new contract anyways AGAIN. PP, Sherman and all the CBs are in the same boat and the market will dictate accordingly what each will get depending on the other and there will be no discount smart move by any team. Any team that would pull off a steal of a deal will eventually face a hold out from a top corner lol

Exactly. If he's as interested in big money as someone seems to think, he'll still want it even if we gave him a new deal now.

I learned that lesson with Boldin. We gave him a new deal early, twice IIRC, and both times when the market value of a WR went up, he was furious he didn't get his salary bumped.

I don't know if PP will be that way or not, but if we think he's waiting on others to set the market, that implies we think that he WILL be that way.

So save the money now and pay him later.
