I guess he would have been made a saint. (not NO) Nothing much about the team that beat them. But, I'm use to that. :)

Woe is Cam, He missed the big time, 1st overall draft pick, QB money this year. Bradford was the last of the big rookie paydays, comparably, anywho.

Rewatch the DVR Our team earned that win, Our mistakes made it closer than it should have been , even with 422 yards passing. Horton Gameplanned to stop a top rushing attack, and the Defense did just that!

THT and Beanie Heads up next week! That ought bust some skulls!
If sportscenter can't see past their east coast bias, it is their loss. Cause win lose or draw The Cardinals are flat out entertaining. Highlights are mere shadows of the mechanics of any team.

We should be very, very glad we won yesterday. Talk about a tough time for Cardinals fans. 422 yards to a rookie QB and lose after having one of the worst defenses in the NFL last season etc.etc. Cards message boards would have been insane.

Seriously, some Cardinal fans are like beaten wives. This was a less impressive win than last year's against the Rams. We beat the 2009 worst team in the league by seven points at home, and only got the lead after their best player went injured for probably the season.

Any win in the NFL is a good win, but it would say more about how awful the Cards were if the media was falling all over themselves to congratulate us for not falling on our face against a team with a rookie QB whom many thought was nowhere near ready to start in the NFL.

We won. Be happy.

Or you could look at it that we beat a team playing about 7 levels above their ability which 99% percent of the time means Upset. How many games have you seen where you say it just isnt meant to be!? Yet we beat the odds....didnt panic and played quite well offensively. 400 yards of Off I will take every Sunday. The Panthers played better then the Rams did last year and if Cam plays that well the entire year. They will win 7-8 games.

Evrything went wrong and yet we still won. Shows we have turned the corner on losing games like that.

They had five shots at the endzone from first and goal. Cam Newton needs to block out all the accolades and concentrate on how they didn't get into the end zone. Block out all anything that comes after "even though they lost at Arizona..." From a Cards point of view, we won. One more game no one wants to give us any credit for. So what? Move on.

Officials gave them 7 and we came away with no points on 2 trips with a first and goal inside the 10 yard line. Cards never quit. I am happy with it.

Should have been 38-14 but 28-21's just fine. I don't care if Newton threw for 600 yards and ran for another 175. As long as we won. Take a look at our stats from the SB. We ran up more O on the Steelers then anybody else that year...and we were losers.

and after the Cardinals win next week the east coast media will down play Hightower's promise of a Cardinal loss and down play the actual Redskin loss, but will surely boast about his 72 yards and a TD ...........life goes on for a Cardinal fan!

That's all that matters. The team looked sloppy in several key areas (coverage, pass pro, etc.); yet, found a way to win the game. Whiz said in his post-game presser that the team would have lost a game like that last season. So true.

I don't know if I agree with that totally. They found a way to win 4 games like that last season and lost two. Of course the last one they lost to Farve cost them the rest of the season.

But most of the losses last year the team wasn't in the game from the opening snap.

One thing that really matters to me and has been lost in the Camsation is that the run defense looks so much better. After the bye week the Cards lost 5 times where their opponents had less than 200 yards passing. Teams just gouged them on the ground. There was a reason Newton was throwing so much.

Or we could have been like New Orleans, Pittsburgh or Atlanta and got our butts handed to us.

This is the NFL, not a college level platform. The old adage "on any given Sunday" always holds true. The Cards didn't loose their heads, keep scratching and clawing and managed a win. This team has a lot more heart than the 2010 edition.

Our QB play Sunday was worlds better than anything we saw last season. We were efficient running the ball. Our defense, while giving up a million yards passing, was still able to get pressure on the QB and get four sacks something many fear would never happen this season).

Alone, if Kolb doesn't throw for 300+ yards and two TDs in unideal situations, we don't win that game. Do you see Anderson, Skelton and/or Hall being able to accomplish such a feat in this game? Highly doubtful.

Given these series of events and improvements we made in the offseason, there is little chance we win this game with 2010's roster and lack of leadership from the QB (which is being heralded by the media, coaches and players).

Look at Mitch's thread about facets we need to clean up. I agree with the vast majority. It was an ugly game no doubt, but we manned up and "did the damn thing."

Chalk it up as a "W" and let's see what this team can do against the Foreskins.

If Grossman hangs 400 and THT busts out with 100 yards against Hortons defense,
We really need our young CB's to focus on coverage instead of what the rest of the units are doing.

Steve Smith played them like a fiddle. Wasn't the last time we faced Grossman MNM?
do some Cards like DD, AW remember the worse loss of all time in any sport?

I hope they beat his skin Red!

That's fine. But that doesn't fit with what we were talking about that last year's couldn't have found a way to win Sunday's game. Last year's team found a way to win the season opener on the road despite losing 4 fumbles by scoring on a 4th Q TD pass to Fitz and sealing the win with an INT by Rhodes.

They also managed to take advantage of the Cowboys gaff in missing an extra point and go on a 9 play drive led by raw rookie QB John Skelton to kick the game winning FG.

So it isn't certain that last year's team would have lost Sunday's game.

This is where I am. I know that last year's team was bad--downright awful at times--but we won the opener last year on the road in less ideal circumstances than last season.

I'm surprised that the refrain this offseason was "we're more talented now/we're more talented now/we're more talented now" and then we win the season opener--again against the 2010 worst team in the NFL--at home by just 3 more points than last year. Now it's that we're just as talented, but this team has more heart, or something. We never had a hard time playing when we were down by only one score--even last year. But we never went down by 2 scores, and if the Panthers kick a field goal on either of their drives that stalled in that 52-yard field goal range (can't figure out why they didn't trust Olinodo Mare from that distance in a dome), then we go down 10 points and see what the team is really made of.

There's little reason to think--at this juncture--that we're a much better team in 2011 than we were in 2010. Our sustained offensive drives added up to exactly 7 points on Sunday. After our opening drive we scored on 3 more big plays, but little sustained.

There's a lot of things to work on, but the jury is very much still out on the 2011 edition of the Cards. Hard to draw conclusions from the first week of play around the NFL. But I want to see what this team does when they go down 10 or 14 before we put to rest the idea that this team is going to be better than last year's.

First half maybe... New Orleans lost on the 1 yard line with a chance to tie. That's not getting their butts handed to them. The other two I agree with.
