If we as fans could go back to 87-88 and vote for either the Cards moving to AZ or the NFL awarding us a new franchise, which would you vote for being a Cards fan now.

Included in the POLL choices would be the inference that if we could go back, we would also have changed the history of the NFL by our choice. For instance, with a new franchise we may have hired Jimmy Johnson or Mike Shanahan, who would have been available at the time, as our first coach. Or by choosing having the Cards, we could alter some choices they actually made that first year here, like a different name for the team, location in the State, and/or a different draft in '88 prior to their first season here.

Since I came on when they came to Phoenix.... I would have chosen an expansion team.

I wouldn't wish Bill Bidwill on anyone. But man.... I really love the colors in my basement.

I'm gonna go with stadium. Bidwill was promised a stadium. He wouldn't spend money on the team until they gave him one. Then we went to the SB a couple seasons later. May be a coincidence, but I doubt it

I love this team, this is my team. I wouldn't change that passion for anything.

Wouldn't matter to me other than I can drive to Cardinal Games instead of flying: been a fan since St. Louis days...

ya dont build the stadium "first"....but it should have been built right away as it was promised...Az has treated this team like **** the whole time they have been here and in all honesty, Arizona does not even deserve an NFL team....but the Cards came, and the team and ownership immersed themselves into the community and sank in roots....they treated AZ as home even as AZ treated them as a drunken brother in law living in the basement.....
there is no team in the NFL with a history as long and storied as the Cardinals...it is almost exclusively bad....but it is ours none the less. Arizona is a place for transplants....half the population is from elsewhere, or at best first generation native....an expansion team would not have fit AZ...

I would not change the team we got nor the time we got them I love this team, and I hate the bastards too....supporting this team has in some ways changed who I am as a person, made me a better parent in fact....and taught me more about patience then any other methodology has been able to do.

I live in Baton Rouge now....and there are hundreds...nay,...thousands of Saints fans down here who can describe my middle finger in minute detail....but they do not talk smack on the Cardinals any more...many of them have started following the team, and keeping up with the latest news,....and dare this.....even betting on the Cards to win games from time to time.

I dunno....this whole line of questioning is kinda like asking,...."instead of the child you have, would you have preferred waiting another year and getting a completely different kid?".........

Wouldn't change anything to do with the move.

Also if you look around the stadiums of the 80's or even early 90's like AWA are pretty crappy compared to the recent stadiums. We got a good one, and if we had one built in the 80's it probably would have been an open air with netting above.

Personally, I always wanted a new franchise that would be our baby from the beginning. It never felt right getting someone else's team, not to mention when you know their futile history. Even to this very day it doesn't seem like it is purely our team. Arizona deserved their very own original team. If I was going to have to suffer for years to have a winner, I would have wanted it to be with a new team which was growing.

Screw that! I wouldn't change anything. I hate to say it but part of the loyalty I feel from this team was born from watching it suffer at SDS. Tons of good times were had watching bad football.
The Cardinals may have been losers, but they were OUR losers.

I wouldn't change anything. Not one thing. I grew up watching football with my dad and our favorite team was the Chargers (back in the Fouts, Charlie Joyner, Kellen Winslow days) and I was dying to have our own team. Had to wait a long long time but when we finally got a team I adopted them into my heart and never looked back.

All the foibles with the stadium and weird fan base and lack of sports radio and on and on...all of that is part of what makes them ours. I don't care if they came from another city, so don't care.

They are our team and we as fans have cheered, laughed, shaken our heads, threw up our hands, and in 08 cried. This is our team. And when we finally win the big one it will be that much sweeter after everything we've been through. Nobody in the NFL has been through what we have. Wouldn't change it for the world.

They should have rebranded the franchise as the Outlaws when they moved here, similar to what Modell did with the Browns when he moved them to Baltimore. Nobody thinks of the Ravens as belonging to anyone else but Baltimore. Tennessee with the Titans is another example.

I personally believe that playing in SDS completely crippled this team. This has been a better franchise as far as keeping key players and attendance since the new stadium and I think having built a new dome stadium back then would have given this franchise a much better chance of succeeding sooner than 2008.

This. I would have liked the Wranglers or Outlaws (both usfl) or even the Rattlers (pre-Rattlers of course). Something more region based because the Cards, much like the Browns, didn't have much of a history.

After 25 seasons I've finally gotten over the fact that this wasn't an expansion team.

Phoenix would've gotten an expansion team in the next rounds over Charlotte and most certainly Jacksonville.

I would've loved seeing the team be called the Wranglers or Outlaws or Vacqueros. Cardinals really isn't regional but it is what it is

Thats what people said about St. Louis after the Cardinals left. They built a new stadium and everything....then they had to give up the farm to convince the Rams to move into their shinny new, but empty, stadium.
