I really like JaMarcus Russell although he's only a RS sophomore. I doubt he leaves this early unless they have already promised the starting job to the QB they recruited last year, but he can make all the throws and could be a star if given time to learn the game.

I don't think it really matters though. I see us targeting Aaron Brooks or David Carr this offseason if they are let go.

I was going to comment on JaMarcus Russell but didn't because he's only a sophomore. He's the type of QB I think DG would love, big pocket passer with a big arm. As for the second part I sincerely hope we don't go after Brooks, he's been in the league for how long and he still can't develople any consistancy? Plus he's got a great supporting cast.

Russell is three years in and LSU has some super prospect waiting in the wings so if Russell is going to get demoted it might serve him well to come out. I'm not amped on Brooks either but I'm speculating as to what the Cards might do, not what the wisest move would be.

As a late round pick I am all over this. He might have the best arm i have ever seen. At the end of the first half of the Tenn-LSU game he threw the ball 80 yards on a hail mary. 80 YARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If he got any kind of consistency with his Accuracy he could be a big time QB.

And he is not a stiff either.

Good call on this one!!!!!!!!!!!:)

I mentioned Brady Quinn the other day and somebody half-flamed me for it. Said something like "Can you say Tim Couch?"

Brady Quinn is (IMHO) going to be a bonafide star in the NFL. Especially if he stays in for one more year of learning under Charlie Weis.

But to answer your question, D.J. Shockley from Georgia.

Seems to have all the tools, I love watching him play.

I have watched Shockley this year and he is sure NFL material. Unfortunately he got hurt against Arkansas (knee I think) and will be out for a while. When he went down the Georgia offense went south. He can run and he can throw. Sort of a Mike Vick type guy only not the runner Vick is. He can throw accurately on the run.

Some coach will be brilliant if he drafts Young and converts him to WR a la Matt Jones, who BTW, was a much better pure QB. I still think Jones can play QB in the NFL.

Jones is doing well at WR. Made a great catch for a TD last week and the Coach has been very high on him. I wonder if they have used him to throw the ball yet? He has a cannon for an arm and throws best on the run. Before he is through I think he has a shot at being a top 5-10 receiver in the NFL. Leftwich is starting to throw him those high balls that no one can reach except Jones.

Dan McGwire could throw it longer than that and was a bust.

I like Russell too, physically he's got it all, but he's a guy if you draft you have to keep Warner for at least 1 and probably 2 years before Jamarcus is ready to start.

I think Brohm is the best QB prospect not named Leinart in college but he's not draft eligible, Russell is. Definitley a good call by mao though he's a prototype Denny QB, big with a great arm.

Actually he was only out one game. He played last Saturday against Auburn. You are right, he is VERY accurate on the run, and his throws look effortless.

I'm sticking with my non-draft eligible call of Chad Henne being the best QB after Leinart. He's had some struggles this year breaking in new WR's but he's got the best arm out there. If you like Shockley then you obviously also thought Quincy Carter was the goods. Those 2 are very similar.

Living in Arizona and being a Penn State homer is tough!!! I havn't seen a single Penn State game on TV all year (stupid Pac 10 :D ). Listening on XM radio just isn't the same as seeing it...

I guess I'd be a real tool if I told you I've gone to three this year live and get to watch all of em?

Damn the perks of being a Penn State student this season :)

So how has Robinson looked at QB this year??? I actually think that JoePa should have started Robinson last year, if not the year before, over Zach. In your opinion does Robinson have what it takes to play on Sundays??? As a QB or as Slash II??? Of maybe even beef up and play TE?? Kid is obviously a hell of an athlete!

The points I've noticed of Robinson..

A) He's a good leader. The Nittany Lions are young as hell (they had two true freshmen starting at WR before Derrick Williams got hurt, but either way he's done a solid job in building them up in to the system.)

B) He's tough. The guy can take a beating.

C) To answer your question as to whether or not he has the tools to play on Sundays, he does but not at the QB position. He's one of those guys who's a better athlete than QB, and I actually see M-Rob switching to safety at the NFL level.
