Why doesn't Kerr just appoint himself he seems to think he knows how to win a championship. Sure Sarver would be all for it save him a ton of money. God this team and management is just in chaos.

Why doesn't Eddie Johnson ever come up in discussion? His pointed criticisms of the Suns play during broadcasts demonstrate his intelligence and understanding of the game. Shouldn't he be looked at?

One of Kerr's good friends (and Grant Hill's) is San Antonio assistant Chip Engelland. I would expect him to get some play. Another assistant I think they'd look at is Utah assistant Phil Johnson.

Eddie is outstanding, but he has to commit to being an assistant before being given the reigns of an NBA playoff team.

Anyone except for :

- any actual/former member of Mike "Arsène Lupin" D'antoni's coaching staff or any member of the Suns's front office/management/scouting department.

- any famous perennial loser who should stick to TV broadcasting like Doug Collins, Rick Carlisle, Jeff Van Gundy, Paul Silas... or even Avery Johnson.

- any successful college coach.

I'd like Kerr to think outside the box and bring a relatively unknown coach/assistant coach, creative and adaptive with some understanding of defense. Guys like Tom Thibodeau or David Blatt. Unfortunately, it won't happen.

First post but been reading this for yrs. Longtime suns fan.I agree I would hate to see some re-tread like Van Gundy/Collins or a remnant of the D'antoni regime or suns front office like Mark West.

But how about Quin Snyder? Young, smart, runs the Spurs system (current Austin Toros coach), defensive emphasis (liked by sarver/kerr).

Thats what KILLS me about this. There is no one even close to a viable alternative out there. What a joke.

Hows this for an idea. Keep D'Antoni and make Tom Thibodeau (sp?) the highest paid assistant coach in the league......

Any takers?

So if D'antoni goes to chicago and Chicago wants him do we get compensation in return like teams have in the past. I can't remember who it was but they got some draft picks in return. I would think it would work for all parties involved. Chicago does not need any more youth on that team so we will take their 1st round pick, or any one of several players the Suns have coveted in the past as compensation.

That was Gruden and the NFL. Plus, the Bulls know that the Suns want to dump his salary, so there is no bargining even if Kerr wanted to.

Flip Saunders, if the rumors that he's in trouble in Detroit are true.

The Suns want to dump D'Antoni's salary? According to who?

"As we have continued to convey, we value Mike D'Antoni as the head coach of the Phoenix Suns and would like him to continue leading this basketball team," Kerr said in late morning team release. "Because he has requested to speak to other teams about their head coaching vacancies, we have granted him permission. We will have no further comment until this process further evolves."

I really hate how people project their own opinions onto the truth because it makes it more exciting and dramatic in their minds.

D'Antoni doesn't want the front office meddling so much in his team. The front office wants to make D'Antoni into the type of coach, that he really isn't. This has nothing to do with money, and everything to do with egos. Mike is upset because the FO wants a different type of team than he is willing to coach, so he'd like to move to an organization that supports his style of coaching. Soudns pretty basic (and boring) to me.
