If NewOrleans is willing to trade 2 #1's

Shouldn't a team that is closer to 10 players away than 1 from making the playoffs be jumping at the chance to do this?

I mean I'd even use one of the picks and trade the 2nd for a couple of 2's or 3's and end up with 5 picks in the first 3 rounds... But I'm crazy like that I guess.

Let's face it. If we sign a top10 player they will most likely sign late and be of little or no impact this year.

Save some cash and use it on Robinson and/or a decent starter that gets cut June 1st to fill 2 holes for the same money as a top 10 pick. I have to admit, I haven't crunched the numbers but I would bet Robinson or anyone else that has to rely on AZ to pick them up around June 1st isn't going to be getting top $$$.


Since I didn't mention it yet, the attached article makes it sound like NewOrleans is chomping at the bit to give us 2 number 1's, which could be totally false.

Dude - Based on recent events of the day, I'm not sure I'd trust our org to make any trades.

I diagree. Look at Carolina last year vs. 2 years ago. In 2001, the Panthers were just horrible. Awful. They took an impact player with a Top 10 draft pick, didn't spent much in free agency, and finished 7-9 in the best division in football and their future is actually pretty bright for 2003.

That's the effect that a premier draft choice can have on your team. Look at the Cards roster right now, and I see a lot of similarities with the Panthers of 2002. If they can get a Peppers-type impact player (remember all the questions about Peppers going into the 2002 draft? Way more than with Suggs...) in the Top 10, of which there should be at least 3, then you can turn your franchise around.

The Cards are in a better position than the Bengals, better than the Texans, better than the Panthers. They just don't need to panic and totally rebuild, because I think the core is there, they just need a catalyst. That's why I think you need Suggs.

A day ago I would have said you are crazy Jeff but right now I just don't know anymore. I figured if they had 2 first rounders they could have one pan out and the other would be a bonus. Right now I think they would gag on both of them and forget to make a pick in the 15 minute time allotment.
