but one segment seems to be the exception to the rule right now doesn't it? hardly the majority that I've seen.
not to mention that ESPN is getting roundly slammed (for good reason) by pretty much every other sports reporting service right now after that ludicrous report.
Chris Long's tweet is pretty hilarious and true for the most part. the only people (IMO) still talking about this are the people who seemingly WANT it to be an issue at this point, whether that's in an incredibly misguided attempt to drive ratings or because they themselves have an issue with it.

Probably a bad fit for us scheme-wise, but it's unfair to say we have a lot of players with the same skills. Maybe if you put him at LB, but he's a DE with a lot more speed than anyone else we have. One-trick pony, yes, but so is Abraham.
I actually wasn't sold on him and maybe I'm still not, but he shows a lot more pass-rushing skills as a DE in a 4-3 than any of our LB's who come up to the line with their hand in the dirt.
His best moves in preseason have actually been QB hurries, in my opinion, where he showed a plethora of spin moves and bull-rushes, or half bull-rushes while dipping the shoulder, but all I could find were his sacks, so I'm going to go with those:
Dips his shoulder with good power, without losing speed. Look at his leverage as he dips into the RT, carries him, and explodes out of the block.
This one is pretty nice once you watch the replay:
Watch the replay from another angle in this video. He "short-arms" the guy, faking like he's going to bull and push his shoulder pads, but instead pulls his arms back and blows by him without any loss of momentum or speed.
Again, his best moves, in my opinion, weren't those sacks, but were ones where he ruined plays. Does anyone on our team even have 2 sacks in preseason? To say we have people with the same skills is negating what this kid is able to do. His sacks were a result of setting dudes up with other moves, but they don't put those on youtube or ESPN. He's got the speed, the power, and the moves, to rush. One-trick pony, maybe. It's definitely a bad scheme fit, but there's no reason he can't be situational and put his hand in the dirt in our 3-4 scheme, along with Abraham, on 3rd downs. Is it worth it, maybe not. But we need to develop a pass rush because we have none, zero. Even BA said he was concerned about it.
I'd take this kid in a heartbeat if the price was right. We need to generate pressure from somewhere and this kid can do that.
The rest of the stuff about showers and being gay is irrelevant. Nobody cares. I just want someone who can help us win a championship.
(Did I mention he's faster than anyone we currently have rushing the QB? Look at his speed)

It's downright scary. Teams are going to kill us over and across the middle without pressure. The WR'S can split our safeties and kill us all day long in the middle of the field and along the deep seam routes.

Sam actually has as many sacks as our entire team does this preseason. How we're going to get any pressure on the QB is the biggest question this D faces going into the season.
So hard to watch the lack of QB pressure, I know we saw a lot of scrubs playing, but damn.. These guys are trying to crack an NFL roster spot... You would like to see SOMETHING.
Sam making the first round of cuts is a lead story on ESPN I would think eventually other guys on his team would start wondering why this guy gets the spot light as a guy who has no chance to start and will be the last guy on the depth chart. It could bring resentment with all the huge egos in the NFL. That's one of the only problems I see with the attention.

I agree, but our D only became exceptional after DWeed came back off suspension. Obviously, that's not happening this year. The fact we're bring in Harrison speaks volumes.
Just curious. Has any player come forth & declared themselves the first openly heterosexual football player? If not, they should. How about the first openly transvestite? Just play football
Interesting comments from his draft profile on NFL.com:
Bottom Line
A productive, 4-3 weakside rusher who came on as a senior and it made his last season his best. Could fit most ideally as a 3-4 outside linebacker in a zone-blitzing scheme like the Steelers or Ravens.
